Dong Nai welcomes a wave of investment in agricultural product processing.

Although primarily an industrial province, Dong Nai places great emphasis on investing in agriculture. With its advantageous geographical location and connections to numerous large consumer markets, the province has attracted many corporations and businesses to invest in agriculture, particularly in agricultural product processing, from a very early stage.

Following the merger, with its large agricultural land area and status as the "livestock capital" of the country, Dong Nai continues to be an ideal destination attracting investment in both crop cultivation, livestock farming, and agricultural product processing. In particular, the One Commune One Product (OCOP) program has encouraged, attracted, and opened up startup opportunities for many businesses and cooperatives in the agricultural product processing sector, especially for the local area's key agricultural products.

Top in attracting investment in livestock farming.

From a very early stage, Dong Nai province has attracted many corporations and businesses to invest in agriculture and rural areas, creating a closed-loop chain from production to processing and consumption, with many well-known brands on the market such as: CP Vietnam, Japfa, CJ, Emivet, Masan , Koyu Unitek, Nestlé, Cargill, Hoa Phat, De Heus, GC Food… In the animal feed production sector alone, the province has attracted 63 businesses with an output of approximately 5 million tons of animal feed per year. Many factories now apply world-leading animal feed production technology, not only supplying the domestic market but also boosting export activities.

For many years, Dong Nai province has consistently focused on creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies to attract investors from the stages of preliminary processing and preservation to refined and deep processing. The province is particularly interested in attracting investment in several agricultural processing industries with relatively modern technology and equipment, on par with regional and global standards. Specifically, the province is developing the Long Giao Industrial Cluster (Cam My commune) and the Phu Tuc Industrial Cluster (Dinh Quan commune), prioritizing the attraction of businesses investing in agricultural processing with a focus on deep and refined processing, forming value chains, increasing added value, and addressing the market for agricultural products.

Dong Nai province is also an attractive destination for many large investors in the field of processing livestock products for both domestic and export markets. Notably, Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd. (in Long Binh ward) is a pioneering enterprise investing in a closed-loop livestock farming chain from breeding to slaughtering and processing chicken meat for export to the Japanese market. CPV Food Binh Phuoc Co., Ltd. (a subsidiary of CP Vietnam Livestock Corporation), located in Chon Thanh ward, recently reached the milestone of exporting 10,000 tons of chicken meat to the Japanese market...

According to Tran Nhon Hieu, General Director of Koyu & Unitek Co., Ltd., the company currently slaughters and processes approximately 1 million chickens per month. Of this, the majority of exports are processed products, accounting for 20-25% of total production, equivalent to 300-350 tons per month; the remainder is consumed in the domestic market. The company is increasingly diversifying its processed products; currently, it supplies about 40 types of processed products to the export market. Besides the Japanese market, the company plans to expand its export market for chicken meat products to Hong Kong and European countries. Accordingly, the company is implementing a plan to build an additional slaughtering and processing plant in Dong Nai, further expanding its production scale.

Following the merger, Dong Nai province has even greater advantages, continuing to maintain its position as the "livestock capital" of the country. The province has one of the largest pig herds in the country, with nearly 4.2 million pigs; and a total poultry population of approximately 36.5 million. In addition, the province has nearly 169,000 buffaloes and cattle; a total waterfowl population of over 3.64 million; and about 3,000 swiftlet farming facilities. Dong Nai aims to achieve, by 2030, a 90% share of livestock and poultry slaughtered through industrial-scale facilities; and a 30% share of processed livestock and poultry meat in its total meat production.

A new wave of investment in agricultural product processing.

After the merger, the province's total agricultural land area reached over 1 million hectares; the diverse ecosystem includes many crops with areas among the largest in the country, such as: cashew nuts (over 170,000 hectares), rubber (over 280,000 hectares), bananas (20,000 hectares), durian (20,000 hectares), and pepper (22,000 hectares)... Many localities in the province have formed concentrated production areas and specialized crop zones, effectively meeting the needs of investors for processing raw materials.

Over the years, Dong Nai province has consistently focused on creating favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies to attract investors from the stages of preliminary processing and preservation to refined and deep processing. The province is particularly interested in attracting investment in several agricultural processing industries with relatively modern technology and equipment, on par with regional and global standards.

Notably, Dong Nai has attracted many corporations and businesses to invest in processing key industrial crops such as coffee, rubber, and cashew nuts. Many of these factories engage in deep processing, generating high added value. For example, processing plants like Vinacafé Bien Hoa, Nestlé Vietnam, and Tin Nghia Instant Coffee Factory are among the top in the country in terms of scale and production volume, supplying both the domestic and export markets.

With over 170,000 hectares, Dong Nai province has the largest cashew growing area in the country. Currently, Vietnam exports 3-4 million tons of cashew nuts with a total export value of over 4 billion USD. Of this, Dong Nai's cashew nut exports account for approximately 50% of the country's total production and value.

According to Nguyen Hoang Dat, Vice Chairman of the Dong Nai Cashew Association: Currently, there are over 1,400 cashew processing businesses in the province. Cashew products from Dong Nai are quite diverse and meet export standards. Many cashew products have been granted geographical indications, creating a brand presence in the international market. After the merger, Dong Nai has the opportunity to elevate its status as Vietnam's cashew capital to new heights in both production volume and quality, especially in increasing the proportion of cashew exports.

The province has many favorable conditions in terms of soil, a skilled workforce of farmers, and numerous mechanisms and policies to attract investors into the seed production sector.

According to a report by the Department of Agriculture and Environment, the province has 3 agricultural plant breeding research units, 16 plant seed production facilities, and 402 plant seed trading establishments. Seed management is given high priority. Regarding plant seeds alone, the province supplies approximately 11,000 tons of seeds to the market annually.

Mr. Nguyen Dinh Than, Production Director of Trang Viet Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. (Xuan Duong commune), said: "The company produces a diverse range of seed crops such as bitter melon, pumpkin, cucumber, zucchini, watermelon, etc. These seeds are not only supplied to the domestic market but also exported to many countries around the world. The company cooperates with farmers who have land, providing seeds, supplies, technical guidance, and guaranteeing the purchase of their products at a price that ensures good profits. The market demand for seeds remains very high, so the company continues to expand cooperation with farmers in many localities to increase the area for growing seed crops."

Furthermore, the effective implementation of the OCOP program has created a good foundation for attracting investors to the agricultural processing sector. As of November 2025, the province had 496 OCOP products from 323 entities, including 367 products achieving 3 stars, 112 products achieving 4 stars, and 17 products achieving 5 stars.

Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd. (located in Phu Hoa commune) has pioneered the successful implementation of the Large-Scale Cocoa Farm Project, linked with investment in a deep processing plant. To date, the company has developed a large-scale cocoa plantation covering over 1,000 hectares. Besides exporting raw cocoa beans, the company processes various products such as chocolate and cocoa powder, exporting them to demanding markets. The company has two products that have achieved national 5-star OCOP certification.

Mr. Dang Tuong Khanh, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Trong Duc Cocoa Co., Ltd., shared: "Throughout the more than 20-year journey of building the large-scale cocoa farming project linked with processing, the success of the enterprise has been greatly aided by the supportive policies of the State, especially the specific policies of Dong Nai province. These crucial policies have empowered the enterprise and farmers in building raw material areas as well as investing in deep processing."
