The Nhon Trach 3 and 4 power plants, with a total investment of approximately US$1.4 billion, are the first project in the LNG (PV Gas) to Power (PV Power) chain in Petrovietnam's energy transition process. The aim is to build a modern LNG gas-fired power plant model, enhance electricity supply capacity, and contribute to ensuring national energy security amidst a strong energy transition.

With a total capacity of 1,624MW, the Nhon Trach 3 and Nhon Trach 4 power plants are expected to supply more than 9 billion kWh/year when operating stably, supplementing the large-scale base power supply for the system, especially in the southern region. The cluster of plants plays a role in providing flexible power sources, supporting dispatching and balancing the system in the context of the increasing proportion of renewable energy.

The project is invested in according to modern technological standards, using GE's 9HA.02 generation gas turbines (USA), the most technologically advanced, powerful, and efficient turbine series in the world today. As a result, the plant achieves an efficiency of 62-64%, among the highest currently available. The 9HA.02 technology meets stringent emission standards and allows for flexible fuel switching, from LNG to the ability to burn hydrogen blends up to 50%, with the goal of using 100% hydrogen in the future.
