On the morning of December 12th, the first An Giang Provincial Women's Congress, for the 2025-2030 term, held its official session. This is an important political event, marking a new stage of development for the women's movement and the activities of the Women's Union in the province.
The First Congress of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, for the term 2025-2030, was held under the spirit of "Unity - Creativity - Innovation - Development". The theme of the Congress was "An Giang women uphold traditions, innovate in integration, build a strong Women's Union organization, and contribute to the sustainable development of the province". The Congress was attended by 300 official delegates representing over 721,100 members throughout the province.
Delivering a keynote address at the Congress, Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union Nguyen Thi Thu Hien highly appreciated the results of the Union's work and the women's movement in the former An Giang and Kien Giang provinces, now An Giang province. During the past term, despite facing difficulties and challenges, especially the severe impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, natural disasters, and climate change, the Union at all levels has continuously innovated its content and methods of operation, effectively implemented emulation movements, campaigns, and Union tasks, closely linked with the implementation of the local political tasks, and achieved many outstanding results.

The An Giang Provincial Women's Congress is entering a new term amidst many new opportunities for strong breakthroughs in the province, especially after the restructuring of the local government model, opening up a broader space for development in terms of population, resources, and economic scale.
With the goals set by An Giang province for 2030, it requires the entire political system and the people, including women, to have high determination and great efforts. Women's associations at all levels in the province need to continue to strive, innovate, and make breakthroughs in implementing emulation movements and association activities to awaken the aspirations for advancement and proactive participation in the economic, cultural, and social development of all strata of women in the province, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Provincial Party Congress for the 2025-2030 term.

Vice President of the Vietnam Women's Union, Nguyen Thi Thu Hien, agreed with the 9 basic targets, 2 breakthroughs, 5 key tasks, and 3 main groups of solutions outlined in the Political Report. She also suggested that, in the new term, the Women's Union at all levels in An Giang province should deeply understand the core role of the organization in women's affairs. Union activities must always place members and women at the center, aiming for the legitimate rights and interests and progress of women; and using women's consensus as a measure of effectiveness. It is necessary to strongly encourage the spirit of self-reliance and the aspiration for advancement in each woman. The Women's Union at all levels must truly be a support system and a safe home for each woman and each family.
In addition, it is necessary to promote the application of information technology and digital transformation in the activities of the Women's Union and in supporting women; as well as improve the quality of policy advice, proposals, monitoring, and social criticism.
At the same time, proactively advise on and integrate issues related to women, families, and children into local socio-economic development programs and projects, as well as national target programs and government projects, especially those projects assigned to the Association to lead. Focus on building a team of Association officials with strong political convictions, moral character, and dedication to the Association's work.
Speaking at the Congress, Tran Thi Thanh Huong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation, and President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province, affirmed that during the past term, under the leadership and guidance of the Party committees at all levels and the Vietnam Women's Union, the Women's Unions at all levels in the province have made many efforts and strived to affirm the role of the organization, making many worthy contributions to the socio-economic development of the province and contributing to building a strong and comprehensive political system.

Currently, the province has 105 Women's Union branches at the commune, ward, special zone, and affiliated unit levels, with 1821 sub-branches; the percentage of women participating in the Union is 65.89%, an increase compared to the beginning of the term. The grassroots Union officials are standardized, highly responsible, united, responsive, enthusiastic, and closely involved with the community, initially meeting the requirements and tasks.
In economic development, the Women's Union at all levels has mobilized, supported, and assisted women in starting businesses, innovating, and developing production and business; effectively managed entrusted capital, helping tens of thousands of members escape poverty and achieve legitimate wealth; women of ethnic minorities in the province have truly become entrepreneurs and pioneers in wealth creation on their own land, with many exemplary models and examples.
The Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of An Giang province expressed confidence that, with its tradition of unity, resilience, and wisdom, the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, term 2025-2030, will continue to be a pioneering force, a source of motivation and inspiration for women of all social strata throughout the province to work together to build a more prosperous, beautiful, and civilized homeland and actively contribute to the cause of national construction and defense.
At the Congress, delegates heard the announcement of the Decision of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Women's Union appointing the Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, term 2025-2030, consisting of 55 members, and the Standing Committee consisting of 14 members (one position vacant), including the President and 3 Vice Presidents. Ms. Truong Thanh Thuy was appointed as the President of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, term 2025-2030.
The Inspection Committee of the An Giang Provincial Women's Union, term I, 2025-2030, consists of 7 members. The delegation attending the 14th National Women's Congress includes 19 official delegates and 3 alternate delegates.
