On the afternoon of December 12th, the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City held a ceremony to inaugurate the renovated and restored historical site of the burial place of Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan at Ban Mountain (An Cuu Ward, Hue City).
Mrs. Hoang Thi Loan was born in 1868 in Nghe An and died in 1901 in Hue. She came from a scholarly family and was a talented, kind, capable, and self-sacrificing Vietnamese woman. In 1895, she followed her husband and two children from her hometown in Nghe An to Hue so that Mr. Nguyen Sinh Sac could study and take the imperial examinations.
During their years living in the capital city, the family endured many hardships. At the end of 1900, she gave birth to her fourth child. Due to poor health and difficult circumstances, she passed away on February 10, 1901 (the 22nd day of the 12th lunar month of the Year of the Rat), at the young age of 33. Her grave was located on the slopes of Mount Ban, a historical site that remained until 1922, when her remains were exhumed and brought back to her hometown.
In 1990, a memorial stele was built at the site of her original grave. Subsequently, in 2002, 2008, and 2024, the structure was further renovated and restored. The site was classified as a city-level historical monument in 2008.

In 2025, the historical site will undergo complete restoration with a total budget of 1.5 billion VND. This includes focusing on the restoration of the memorial stele, reinforcing the foundation, paving the courtyard with stone; expanding the access road; constructing a new gate; improving the landscape, adding trees and stone benches; completing the lighting, water supply, and camera systems; rearranging signage and other auxiliary items…
According to Ms. Nguyen Hong Hanh, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh Museum in Hue City, the restoration and renovation adhere to the principle of preserving the original architecture of the 1990 memorial house, harmonizing with the pine forest space west of Ban Mountain.
