According to Allkpop, at 12:00 on August 23 (Korean time), "Way 4 Luv" - the title song of the 2nd mini album of the virtual group PLAVE "Asterum: 134-1" reached No. 1 on the Melon Top 100 chart after about 180 days since its release.
The achievement comes just two days after the virtual idol group's latest digital single, "Pump Up The Volume!", reached No. 1 on the same chart on August 21 at 12 p.m. KST.
With this achievement, PLAVE officially became the second Kpop boy group to have 2 songs enter Melon Top 100 after BTS.
Melon is one of the most popular and widely used music streaming platforms in South Korea.
Since Melon's reformation in August 2021, only 6 K-pop male idol groups have achieved the No. 1 position on Melon Top 100, namely: BTS (My Universe, Yet To Come), Big Bang (Still Life), NCT Dream (Candy), Seventeen (God of Music), EXO (The First Snow) and PLAVE (Pump Up The Volume!, Way 4 Luv).
Meanwhile, PLAVE just returned with the summer digital single "Pump Up The Volume!" on August 20.
PLAVE debuted in March 2023, with 5 members Noah, Bamby, Yejun, Eunho and Hamin. Unlike idols created entirely by AI technology, PLAVE members are “virtual idols” - real people, interacting with fans through a virtual interface.
All of the group's music products have PLAVE members participating in the composition process.
The group has achieved impressive results in terms of song rankings and album sales. Despite being a virtual group, their achievements are not inferior to real rookies from big companies. PLAVE has even won on Korean weekly music shows.
