The conference, held on the afternoon of September 24th, is an event within the framework of the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue (FD) 2024.
Chongqing is the ideal business destination.
Speaking at the conference, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Vo Van Hoan emphasized that the cooperative relationship between Ho Chi Minh City and Chongqing has seen many positive developments in various fields in recent years since the establishment of friendly cooperation in 2018.
In this context, trade and logistics have always been important pillars in the cooperative relationship between the two sides.
Vice Chairman Vo Van Hoan stated that the new international land-sea trade corridor, connecting Chongqing to Ho Chi Minh City, is not only a strategic trade project but also an important bridge between the two localities.
"This is an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation, develop trade, and create favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to expand their markets, especially in the context of globalization and increasingly complex international supply chains," he emphasized.
As the largest economic center in Vietnam, Mr. Vo Van Hoan stated that Ho Chi Minh City is committed to supporting and creating all favorable conditions for the further development of trade and logistics cooperation between the two localities.
"The city believes that, with its modern infrastructure, strategic location, and favorable investment environment, it will be an ideal destination for Chongqing and international businesses to expand their operations," Mr. Hoan said.
This collaborative development of international trade corridor also provides an opportunity to share experiences, foster innovation, and apply modern technologies in the field of logistics and supply chain management. This cooperation not only helps reduce transportation costs and improve logistics efficiency but also opens up many potential areas for collaboration, such as technology, finance, and investment.
Laying the foundation for deeper cooperation.
For his part, Chongqing Vice Mayor Zheng Xiangdong stated that in recent years, Chongqing has become one of China's four centrally administered cities, a strategic economic center in Southwest China. Chongqing has developed three main logistics models: rail and sea transport, cross-border transport, and international transport.
This system connects directly to 72 cities and 154 train stations in 18 provinces and municipalities in China, while also providing access to 538 ports in 125 countries worldwide. This facilitates more effective cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and Chongqing in developing supply chains and enhancing competitiveness in the international market.
The cooperation promotion conference marks a new step forward in economic relations between Chongqing and Ho Chi Minh City, helping to reduce transportation costs, increase competitiveness, and expand opportunities for businesses.
Mr. Trinh Huong Dong believes that Chongqing and Ho Chi Minh City are two friendly cities, and through cooperation and exchange, they can build mutual trust and lay the foundation for deeper cooperation.
He affirmed: "Through cooperation on the new Chongqing-Ho Chi Minh City international land and sea trade corridor and the promotion of investment activities in the coming time, famous Vietnamese products such as rice, coffee, natural rubber, and fruits can be transported via this route to Chongqing, distributed to inland areas of China and Europe."
