Striving for the dream of becoming a teacher.
The preferential policies and incentives offered by the Party and the State to teachers have created an incentive to attract many talented students to enroll in teacher training programs, fulfilling their passions.
In November, teacher Hoang Thi Thai Bao was busy but full of passion and enthusiasm with many professional activities and vibrant extracurricular movements at Ha Huy Tap High School (Thanh Vinh Ward, Nghe An ).
This school year, Thai Bao officially became a Literature teacher at Ha Huy Tap High School after being recruited under the Nghe An Department of Education and Training's talent attraction program. However, prior to that, Bao had a short contract teaching period at the school, so he quickly adapted to the job without any hesitation or shyness. Also this year, Thai Bao was elected as the Deputy Secretary of the school's Youth Union.
Thai Bao is a former student of the Literature specialization at Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, and was the top-scoring student nationwide in the humanities/social sciences (Block C) in 2019. Facing a future with many choices, she did not hesitate to enroll in the Literature Education program at Hanoi University of Education, fulfilling her childhood dream.
Despite a promising start, the girl from Nghe An province didn't let herself relax. Throughout her four years of university, Thai Bao studied, honed her skills, and participated in extracurricular activities tirelessly. Upon graduating with honors, she decided to take a gap year – allowing herself a year of freedom – without immediately starting work.
“That was a turbulent time in my youth. I had graduated from university, but I didn't really know what I wanted or what to do next. At that time, I received many attractive job offers with long-term development potential in Hanoi, but I still decided to return to Nghe An, to give myself some time to rest and plan my future,” Thai Bao confided.
Although she said she was taking a break, Thai Bao wasn't idle; she took on extra tutoring at home for many students. On one hand, she applied her learned knowledge, honed her teaching skills, and explored whether she was more suited to teaching literature at the middle school or high school level. Afterward, she took on contract teaching positions at high schools in the area.
Hoang Thi Thai Bao said that the opportunity came this summer when she saw the recruitment information for teachers under the Nghe An Department of Education and Training. Despite thorough preparation, confidence in her acquired knowledge, and some teaching experience after graduation, she was still very nervous when entering the interview.
"When I received the acceptance letter, I was overwhelmed with joy and happiness because my efforts over the years had finally paid off. I also felt incredibly lucky and grateful to my family, teachers, and colleagues for their support and companionship, which allowed me to return to my hometown of Nghe An to teach," the young teacher confided.
Returning to the classroom at Ha Huy Tap High School, no longer a contract teacher, Thai Bao said she needs to work even harder. According to the young teacher, teaching expertise is boundless; there is no single lesson plan, and no pedagogical situation is fixed. With persistent effort, dedication, and a love for the profession, she believes that she can develop her abilities and affirm her value anywhere.

Opportunities for outstanding teacher training students
For the 2025-2026 school year, Huynh Thuc Khang High School (Thanh Vinh, Nghe An) will welcome two young teachers who were both recruited under the Nghe An Department of Education and Training's talent attraction program in the August recruitment round. Ms. Nguyen Tran Anh Thu will teach Literature, while Mr. Le Dinh Tu will teach Mathematics.
Nguyen Tran Anh Thu also has an impressive academic record: She graduated as valedictorian in Literature Education from the Faculty of Education, Vinh University. During her university years, Thu served as President of the Student Union, Deputy Secretary of the Youth Union, and won numerous awards and achievements in scientific research, training, and Youth Union activities. Prior to that, Anh Thu was a former student of Vinh University High School for Gifted Students and won third prize in the national excellent student competition in Literature.
“I feel very fortunate and honored to have been hired and working in my field of study right after graduation. This is an advantage that not every education student gets after graduation. I believe that, with the knowledge and skills I have acquired at university, I will do well in the job assigned by the school,” Ms. Anh Thu expressed.
Similarly, teacher Le Dinh Tu is a former student of Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, class of 47 specializing in Mathematics. Choosing teaching out of personal passion and following family tradition, Tu enrolled in the gifted class of the Faculty of Mathematics Education, Hanoi University of Education. The class consisted entirely of excellent students, so everyone was diligent and determined in their studies. To further hone his skills, Le Dinh Tu also worked as a teaching assistant at a high school from his second year, tutored students, and participated in scientific research…
Having graduated from university with honors, and with outstanding achievements since high school, Tú qualified for recruitment under the talent attraction program. After being selected, Tú was assigned to work at Huỳnh Thúc Kháng High School and taught Mathematics in two classes, 10T3 and 10E2.
“In my first year officially teaching and being in charge of 10th grade, both teachers and students were ‘newcomers,’ getting used to the teaching and learning environment. But as a teacher, I needed to proactively create a friendly and comfortable atmosphere so that students wouldn’t feel pressured. At the same time, I researched and applied teaching methods with an appropriate amount of knowledge to help students easily grasp the material. I also felt the first joys after each lesson; the students were enthusiastic, interacted well with the teacher, and loved mathematics,” Mr. Tú said.
The young teacher also acknowledged that the knowledge he had acquired was only theoretical, and his pedagogical skills were not yet perfected. He felt he still had a long journey ahead to learn more from teachers and colleagues, gain practical teaching experience, and draw conclusions from his experiences.

High-quality human resources
Following the 2025 High School Graduation Exam, many outstanding students from high schools in Nghe An province have chosen to pursue a career in education. Among them are many students who previously won top prizes in provincial and national student competitions. Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School has two students who won first prize in the national English competition and chose to study education. At Thanh Chuong 1 High School, two of the top students in the natural sciences field chose to enroll in the Mathematics Education program at Hanoi University of Education and Vinh University.
Having been accepted into her first-choice Literature Education program with 30 points, including bonus points for winning second prize in the provincial Literature competition, Ho Thi Ngoc Ha (formerly a 12th-grade student from Kim Lien High School, Nghe An) said: “My family has a tradition of teaching, so this is the field I’ve dreamed of for many years. Therefore, after working hard and getting accepted into my favorite teaching program, I am very happy and proud. My family’s economic situation is also average, so choosing Vinh University in the province will help ease the financial burden on my family.”
According to Mr. Luu Tien Hung, Principal of the Teacher Training School, Vinh University, in the 2025 admissions season, out of 17 candidates who passed with a perfect score of 30/30, 16 applied to the Teacher Training major.
“In recent years, the quality of incoming teacher training students has been very good, providing a foundation for them to develop their abilities, study, and train effectively. Teaching and training for lecturers has also been smooth, creating motivation to improve their skills and professional qualifications to meet the needs of learners. The leadership of the Teacher Training School, Vinh University, also proposed that provinces and cities have policies to attract talented and outstanding graduates to teach. This would create an environment where high-quality teachers can contribute, develop their talents, dedication, and creativity.”
Nghe An province has promptly implemented many policies to attract talented and outstanding students. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Khanh, Deputy Head of the Personnel and Organization Department of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, said that during the past term, the department advised on and implemented the recruitment of 28 high school teachers and recruited many outstanding graduates who were previously excellent students at the provincial and national levels, and achieved high scores in university entrance exams…
At Phan Boi Chau Specialized High School, in recent years, more than 20 young teachers from various subjects have been recruited back to work at the school, all of whom are former students who have achieved high academic and personal development results. These teachers, recruited through the talent attraction program, possess outstanding abilities, have received thorough training, and have a solid foundation. They are expected to be key figures in innovation and improving the quality of teaching.
However, according to a representative from the Personnel Department of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, the recruitment of teachers under the talent attraction program, implemented according to Government Decree No. 179/2024/ND-CP, has very high criteria. Outstanding graduates must also meet one of the following criteria: achieving at least a third prize in a provincial-level excellent student competition, at least an honorable mention in national-level excellent student selection competitions, or at least a commendation in international-level excellent student selection competitions during their high school studies.
Achieving at least a third-place individual award in a national or international science and technology competition during high school or university studies; or achieving at least a third-place individual award in an Olympic competition in one of the subjects of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Mechanics, Informatics, or other specialized fields during university studies, as recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
With the above regulations, the number of candidates meeting the criteria is very small. In this year's recruitment drive, only 4 teachers were recruited under the talent attraction program. Representatives from the Nghe An Department of Education and Training hope that the criteria will be relaxed to truly attract more talented teacher training students to teaching positions.
According to Mr. Thai Van Thanh, Director of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training, Resolution 71 of the Politburo contains many strong, superior, and outstanding policies that represent a breakthrough in investing in education and training, with particular attention paid to policies for the teaching staff.
The resolution also focuses on higher education, including policies to attract talented individuals from both within and outside the country, and the establishment of research centers. This serves as a foundation for raising the general level of education, discovering and nurturing student talent, and improving the quality of human resources.
With these excellent policies, the leaders of the Nghe An Department of Education and Training believe that this is the "golden age" of education, where teachers receive attention in terms of salaries, allowances, seniority benefits, and priority in attracting talented teachers. They also hope that teachers will promote autonomy, creativity, dedication, and wholeheartedly contribute to the noble cause of educating future generations.
