Quang Ninh: A dolphin appeared at the entrance to Luon Cave in Ha Long Bay on the morning of March 29th, after many years of this species rarely being seen in the area.
Bui Trong Anh, an employee of a cruise ship in Ha Long Bay, captured images of a dolphin, approximately 1.5 meters long, swimming near the entrance to Luon Cave on the morning of March 29th. He had never seen a dolphin in his 13 years working at sea, so he was "very excited" about this moment.
"The dolphin wasn't afraid of people; it swam about 5 meters from the boat. It wagged its tail and played in the water for 10 minutes before disappearing," he said.

According to a member of the Ha Long Bay management board, dolphins frequently appeared in the waters off Quang Ninh and Hai Phong provinces before 2005, even "jumping in schools" near the Bai Chay bridge. After that, they appeared less frequently.
However, dolphins have been spotted several times in the area since the beginning of the year. On March 27th, locals also filmed two beluga whales swimming in the Van Don sea area of Quang Ninh. On February 11th, footage of a dolphin in Ha Long Bay was also captured.
Members of the Ha Long Bay management board believe that the water quality in the bay has recently improved thanks to the ban on fishing in the core zone, leading to an increase in dolphin activity for hunting.

According to National Geographic, dolphins are marine mammals with small teeth, curved mouths that look "like they're smiling," and they feed primarily on fish and squid. A total of 36 species of dolphins have been found in the oceans. Most live in the open ocean or brackish water along coastlines, while some species live in rivers, such as the South Asian river dolphin and the Amazon river dolphin.
