The Chairman of the People's Committee of Ca Mau province has just issued a decision approving the Project on organizing two-session-per-day, boarding school programs for public preschool and primary/secondary schools in the province. Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training (GD&ĐT) is assigned to be the main implementer and is fully responsible for ensuring that there are no delays, waste, negative practices, or vested interests.

Currently, Ca Mau province has 746 public schools from preschool to high school. Of these, over 98% of public preschool and primary schools are teaching two sessions per day, and over 44% are providing boarding facilities; only 39% of secondary and high schools are teaching two sessions per day.
To organize two-session-per-day teaching, the Ca Mau Department of Education and Training stated that it needs to build an additional 126 classrooms at the preschool and primary school levels, over 500 classrooms at the lower secondary level, and over 460 classrooms at the upper secondary level (not including temporary and semi-permanent classrooms that need to be upgraded to permanent structures).
Regarding the implementation of boarding facilities for students, preschools in Ca Mau still lack 127 sleeping rooms, while primary schools need to build 237 sleeping rooms, not including kitchen areas.
For the teaching staff, to implement a two-session-per-day teaching schedule, the entire education sector needs nearly 2,000 additional teachers (685 more preschool teachers, 368 more primary school teachers, 298 more lower secondary school teachers, and 626 more upper secondary school teachers).
"When organizing two teaching sessions per day, if a boarding program is not provided for the children, parents will face difficulties in transporting their children, affecting their daily lives," the Ca Mau Department of Education and Training stated.
Ca Mau province anticipates that in the fiscal years 2026 and 2027, the provincial budget will allocate over 942 billion VND to implement the two-session-per-day and boarding school program, ensuring that 100% of public schools implement the program.
