Mai Hoa, famous for the soundtrack "Land and People", said that when she was young, she loved shows because she aimed for a rich life, which affected her health.
The 49-year-old singer was awarded the title of People's Artist on March 6. On this occasion, she talked about her career perspective, lifestyle and joy of becoming a mother for the third time.
– Your feelings when being honored by the State After nearly 30 years in the profession?
– When making art, everyone aims for a certain title. On my fanpage, I read some comments wondering who Mai Hoa was, or looking at the pictures, I was so young that I was a People's Artist. But soon someone else will answer what songs I have and what my achievements are. Some young people even say they have listened to my music since they were in elementary school. That is the joy, motivation and value that I aim for when working.
I work in cycles, usually 5 Returning to the music industry once in the new year. It's not because I'm not qualified that I'm determined to "see you again".
I think it doesn't matter how fast or slow it is, what matters is whether or not we can keep the brand in the hearts of listeners. Artists who are not confident will find it difficult to bring quality products to the public. I read the law of attraction and understood that if I cannot assert myself, no one can.
– How do you see your artistic journey?
Every day, I always take time to sit quietly and observe my breathing. This is not only relaxing but also good for my profession, because singers need to have a good breath. In addition, I read books to expand my brain, improve my speaking ability or know how to perceive and handle problems in life. I also practice yoga, gym, take care of plants and flowers, and spend time with my children.
– When did you choose this lifestyle?
– When I was young, I wanted to make money and wanted to become rich and be able to support my family. From the platform of winning first prize in the Hanoi Television Singing Contest in 1996, I had many shows, but due to work overload, I was constantly sick, the longest being half a month. At that time, I had a schedule to sing almost every day. I was quite a perfectionist and had to be careful in everything I wanted to do, so I was quite stressed. I realized I needed to change, I had to love myself first before I could contribute to the audience.
I accept less shows and accept less money to stay healthy. I think there are many richer people out there, standing at the top, why do I keep chasing after material values? So I choose to go step by step, from work to life. Now I'm content because I have what I want, and I don't feel inferior to anyone.
– Getting married at the age of 23, how did your life change then?
– I think that husband and wife are fate, and so is having children come to you. I even tried everything to have my first daughter, even though the doctor warned me that there was a 90% chance I wouldn't be able to keep the pregnancy. I read prayers every day, and rely on the temple to pray for blessings.
When I got married and became a mother, I focused on accompanying my children's childhood. I remember that less than a month and a half after giving birth to my first daughter, I returned to continue studying vocal music at the Military College of Culture and Arts. Then I got caught up in work, from singing to participating in shows, and at the end of the day when I got home I didn't have the energy to play with my children. Seeing that this wouldn't work forever, when my child was three years old, I decided to live more for my family.
– How do you educate your two daughters?
– I used to use spanking to teach my grandchild, but after spanking, I cried because I felt sorry for him. Later, I knew I failed when using this method, realized I would create a big gap with my child, so I promptly adjusted.
Perhaps the first daughter, 26 years old, like my replica in both appearance and personality. I think I have sown a good fate for my child when at the age of 12, he personally came into contact with Buddhism, and when he grew up, he knew how to turn to his roots. The second child, 17 years old, has it stronger personality. I let my children do what they like, as long as they don't exceed the limit. I also took a numerology course to understand my child better, and wanted to be the person he could safely share all his stories with. Now that I have another baby boy, I often joke that old age is not peaceful (laughs).
– Having welcomed your third child at the age of forty, how has your lifestyle changed?
– Nearly a year since my son was born, life My life is filled with happiness. I am grateful that at this age I have the opportunity to welcome a baby. Perhaps the child feels that his mother is very old, so he is very obedient and understanding. I have someone who specializes in taking care of my baby, my family helps me, and I know how to organize my work so I still have enough time for myself.
My oldest child is in America, so he often turns on the surveillance camera or calls to talk to him. The second child is not yet used to her presence but gradually begins to show affection, making me very happy. I said that having a third child was for my children, I wanted them to be together happily in the future.
As a mother again, I moved the product launch plan from the 5-year cycle. This fall, I plan to release a vinyl record of eight of my signature songs, six years after the soundtrack MV. Land and people, CD duo Yellow autumn, The days we were together.
