Coastal destinations are leading the 2026 summer travel wave.

Amidst the peak tourist season and the long summer vacation for students, bookings for domestic resort services have seen strong growth. According to Traveloka, Vietnamese travelers are increasingly prioritizing quality beach and island getaways, holidays in major cities, and trips linked to events and festivals that offer valuable experiences.

Vietnamese tourists have become more proactive and purposeful in planning their trips.

According to market analysis from the reputable online travel platform Traveloka, domestic travel demand in June and July is mainly focused on prominent coastal destinations and major urban centers. Travelers are increasingly opting for itineraries linked to high-end resort ecosystems and unique cultural events.

More importantly, travelers are increasingly planning ahead and taking advantage of major promotional campaigns to book services during peak travel seasons. This reflects a significant shift in travel consumption behavior, as users become more proactive in optimizing both costs and experiences for each trip.

Traveloka Vietnam Director Huynh Thi Mai Thy commented: "What we've observed this summer is the image of a generation of Vietnamese travelers who are more proactive and purposeful in planning their trips, viewing domestic travel as an important part of their lifestyle and a way to recharge."

Responding to the peak summer travel season, many travel service providers have launched a series of promotional programs. Surveys show that, with the "Mega Sale 6/6 - Summer Deals Up to 666K" program running from June 1st to 7th, Traveloka is offering travelers a range of attractive promotions on flights, hotels, and travel activities throughout the region. Travelers can "hunt" for flights at attractive prices and receive discounts on accommodation bookings to optimize costs for their exploration trips.

While domestic tourism continues to play a dominant role, regional data from this platform also reveals significant interest in international travel. These exploratory journeys are fueled by large-scale entertainment events, music festivals, and arts tours in nearby destinations.

Accordingly, Thailand continues to be the most popular international destination for Vietnamese tourists. Meanwhile, Singapore and Malaysia rank second and third, respectively, on the list of overseas destinations most sought after by Vietnamese tourists this summer.

Phu Quoc and Da Nang lead the 2026 summer tourism wave.

Prominent coastal destinations such as Phu Quoc, Da Nang, and major urban centers like Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City continue to lead the summer tourism wave in 2026. Along with this, tourists are increasingly choosing destinations with convenient transportation options thanks to developed road and air transport infrastructure.

It's easy to see that beach and island destinations are experiencing strong growth this summer. Phu Quoc stands out, boasting the highest growth rate nationwide in summer flight search volume: a 56% increase. Con Dao follows with a 42% increase. This demonstrates that high-quality beach and island vacations continue to be a top choice for Vietnamese tourists during the hot season.

Alongside this, affirming its position as Vietnam's leading summer destination, Da Nang officially rose to the number one spot on the list of most popular accommodation destinations on the Traveloka platform. This destination also simultaneously recorded strong growth in the number of domestic flight bookings.

Da Nang's appeal continues to be solidified as it was honored with second place on Lonely Planet's list of "Asia's Best Summer Destinations." Notably, the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival (DIFF 2026) was also selected by Travel + Leisure as one of the Top 9 most worthwhile summer festivals in the world.

This summer, visiting major cities on short trips continues to be a popular trend among Vietnamese travelers. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi are among the most searched domestic destinations for air tickets, reflecting the demand for short urban getaways.

In addition, Vung Tau has emerged as a "hot spot" for accommodation thanks to the trend of self-driving tours to nearby destinations. Furthermore, familiar coastal destinations such as Nha Trang, Quy Nhon, and Mui Ne maintain their stable appeal as they enter the peak tourist season in August.

According to Traveloka Vietnam Director Huynh Thi Mai Thy, whether travelers want to explore the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival or seek a quality beach and island vacation in Phu Quoc, the platform aims to make the exploration journey simpler and more convenient.

"Through our comprehensive integrated platform, we offer a smoother experience at every step of the planning process, from connecting with airline services to high-quality accommodation options at your destination," added Ms. Huynh Thi Mai Thy.
