According to calculations, with the current water level, Huong Dien and Binh Dien reservoirs are capable of completely cutting off rain with a flow of 400mm, Ta Trach reservoir is 500mm. |
On the morning of September 27, the Department of Irrigation and Climate Change said that irrigation and hydroelectric reservoirs in the area were still operating safely, capable of completely cutting off rain with a flow rate of 400 - 500mm.
Specifically, the water level of Huong Dien hydroelectric reservoir (upstream of Bo river) is +48.7m (normal water level +58m), the flow to the lake is 210m3/s; the flow to the downstream is 184m3/s. The water level of Binh Dien hydroelectric reservoir on Huong river is +74.74m, the flow to the lake is 96m3/s; the flow to the downstream is 68m3/s. The water level of A Luoi hydroelectric reservoir is +552.998m, the flow to the lake is 84.6m3/s; the flow to the downstream is 84.6m3/s.
Mr. Nguyen Quang Hai, General Director of Binh Dien Hydropower Joint Stock Company, said that with the current water level of the reservoir equivalent to the flood prevention capacity of the reservoir, there is about 150 million m3. To proactively respond to storm No. 10 as well as natural disasters in the coming time, the unit has organized inspections of the project items before the rainy season, at the same time, fully prepared supplies, materials, equipment and arranged on-duty personnel to respond when situations arise.
According to calculations, with the current water level, Huong Dien and Binh Dien reservoirs are capable of completely cutting off a rainstorm with a flow of 400mm, and Ta Trach reservoir is 500mm. The Department of Irrigation and Climate Change has prepared reservoir operation scenarios for forecasted rainfall levels of 100-200mm, with some places over 300mm, to proactively operate inter-reservoirs when heavy rain occurs.
The city currently has 56 irrigation reservoirs and 13 hydroelectric reservoirs. Before the annual storm and flood season, relevant departments and agencies have coordinated with relevant localities to inspect the management and operation, electrical safety, dam and reservoir safety management, and disaster response.
