Activities of Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long within the framework of General Secretary To Lam's state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan

From May 5 to 7, 2025, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long joined the high-level delegation of General Secretary To Lam and his wife on a state visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This is an important visit in promoting all-round cooperation between Vietnam and Kazakhstan, especially in the fields of politics , diplomacy, economics, trade and investment.

During his working trip to Kazakhstan, Deputy Minister Nguyen Hoang Long accompanied General Secretary To Lam in official activities such as: talks with President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, meeting with Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, visiting the Academy of Public Administration under the President; attending the Vietnam - Kazakhstan business roundtable and a private reception with leading Kazakhstan businesses by General Secretary To Lam ; visiting the Astana Financial Center and attending the Victory Parade.

Vietnam - Kazakhstan business roundtable discussion

Among the contents discussed by the two sides, economic - trade - investment cooperation is an important pillar in the Vietnam - Kazakhstan relationship. Economic, trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Kazakhstan have had very positive developments in recent times. In 2024, bilateral trade turnover between Vietnam and Kazakhstan reached nearly 1 billion USD. Currently, Kazakhstan is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Central Asia, while Vietnam is Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia.

Appreciating the positive developments in economic, trade and investment cooperation and affirming that the two economies have great potential for further development, the two sides agreed to enhance the effectiveness of the Vietnam-Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Committee on economic-trade and scientific-technological cooperation and effectively implement the Joint Action Plan to promote economic-trade cooperation commensurate with the strategic partnership established during General Secretary To Lam's visit to Kazakhstan this time.

During the working trip, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Hoang Long had a meeting with Mr. Arman Shakkaliyev, Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan to discuss bilateral economic and trade cooperation and prepare for the 12th meeting of the Vietnam - Kazakhstan Intergovernmental Committee.

Currently, Kazakhstan is Vietnam's largest trading partner in Central Asia, while Vietnam is Kazakhstan's largest trading partner in Southeast Asia.

Vietnam's main export items to Kazakhstan include phones of all kinds and components (market share of about 65%); computers, electronic products and components (12%), machinery, equipment, other spare parts (7%); fruits and vegetables (2%), cashew nuts, footwear, textile products (each item accounts for 1%).
