Where do Vietnamese billionaires stand in the list of the richest people in Southeast Asia?

As of the end of February 2023, according to Forbes data, Vietnam had 6 billionaires with a total asset of 12.5 billion USD. This figure has decreased sharply compared to the beginning of 2022 and is lower than the figure calculated in 2020.
According to data compiled by Forbes on February 20, among the major countries in Southeast Asia, Thailand has 29 billionaires (up 1 compared to last year), Singapore has 27 billionaires (down 1 compared to last year), Indonesia has 25 billionaires (down 1 compared to last year). Notably, the Philippines has only 14 billionaires (down 7 compared to last year), while Malaysia has 16 billionaires (down 1 compared to last year). According to the latest update of Forbes' list of world billionaires, Vietnam has 6 USD billionaires: Vingroup Chairman Pham Nhat Vuong, VietJet Air CEO Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao, Hoa Phat Chairman Tran Dinh Long, Techcombank Chairman Ho Hung Anh, Thaco Chairman Tran Ba Duong and Masan Chairman Nguyen Dang Quang. The total number of billionaires in Southeast Asia is 117.

Looking deeper into the list, Pham Nhat Vuong is ranked 30th in the list of Southeast Asian billionaires with 4 billion USD. Nguyen Thi Phuong Thao is ranked 55th with 2.2 billion USD, Tran Dinh Long is ranked 71st with 1.8 billion USD. Ho Hung Anh is ranked 78th with 1.6 billion USD, Tran Ba Duong is ranked 81st with 1.5 billion USD and Nguyen Dang Quang is ranked 87th in the list of Southeast Asian billionaires with 1.4 billion USD. The total assets of Vietnamese billionaires are currently 12.5 billion USD.

Compared to last year, only Indonesia had a significant increase in total billionaire wealth. Meanwhile, Thailand and Singapore had almost unchanged billionaire wealth. The wealth of billionaires in Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam decreased significantly compared to 2022.
