Responding to “ World Digestive Health Day”, Prof. Dr. Nguyen Thi Lam, former Deputy Director of the National Institute of Nutrition, shared a simple way to cool down when having to move around a lot in hot weather.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam, when going out on hot days, first of all, people need to wear clothes and hats to block out the sunlight. At the same time, to reduce body heat in the hot summer, we need to drink enough water. This is very important.

Normally, an adult is recommended to drink 1.5-2 liters of water per day, however, on hot days, we can increase by 0.5 liters of water per day.

You should drink cool water, not too cold water, because when you drink cold water, the micro-vessels in your throat will contract, easily creating conditions for disease-causing bacteria to grow and easily causing sore throat. You should drink slowly in small sips, not drink a large cup at once.

Besides filtered water, we can also drink fruit smoothies or drink boiled vegetable juice in family meals.

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam, boiled vegetable water and smoothies from ripe fruits will have a lot of potassium - this is a diuretic, also helps reduce heat and salt in the body, reducing high blood pressure.

Ripe fruits and green vegetables are also rich in antioxidants, which neutralize free radicals that damage cells. When moving outdoors in hot weather, free radicals in the body will be produced more, but when encountering antioxidants from ripe fruits and green vegetables, these free radicals will decrease and the body will be less tired.

How to drink orezol to cool down in the summer properly?

According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam, using orezol to drink to cool down is also very good. However, we must mix it properly, with enough water and can drink after moving a lot in the sun because at that time the body is dehydrated.

In particular, you should only drink enough, do not drink orezol instead of drinking water every day, because if you drink too much orezol, the electrolytes in the body will be in excess, then the kidneys will have to work harder to excrete electrolytes.

“If we are out in the sun a lot every day, we should only drink 1 cup, it is enough, should not drink instead of water”, Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam recommends. For those who play sports for a long time, high intensity, and are dehydrated, they can drink more orezol.
