Blue whales continuously jump up to catch prey, creating a rare and interesting scene in the waters of Binh Dinh, surprising and delighting viewers... Dr. Vo Van Quang, Head of the Department of Marine Vertebrates, Nha Trang Institute of Oceanography , commented: “This is the only place in Vietnam where whales come close to shore to feed for many days. Because up to now, we have only recorded cases of whales stranded and washed ashore or swimming through the sea on their migration journey. Faced with this interesting phenomenon, many people have asked why whales appear in the waters of Binh Dinh and why they stay for so long? The answer is that there is a large concentration of food sources. This marine environment has favorable factors suitable for whale habits such as ocean currents, warm temperatures, clean marine environment, rich plankton... which have concentrated many food sources for whales”.
