After a long period of issuing decisions to reclaim land and proposing forced land reclamation at 419 Le Hong Phong Street, Ward 2, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City, the land has now begun to be demolished to hand over the site to the State.

This is a plot of land with an area of nearly 11,000m², located on three prime frontages of Vinh Vien - Le Hong Phong - Tran Nhan Ton streets (District 10), which the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee leased to Saigon Footwear Joint Stock Company (later renamed Saigon G Education Joint Stock Company) until December 31, 2020.

During the lease period, Saigon Footwear Joint Stock Company subleased a portion of the land to Thanh Buoi Limited Company. In May 2021, when the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to reclaim the land, Saigon Footwear Joint Stock Company failed to comply. According to observations by reporters from Giao Thong Newspaper, in recent days, the land has begun to be dismantled, demolished, and relocated. Machinery, equipment, and workers are working continuously.

By November 16th, approximately 50% of the structures on the site had been demolished. Inside the site, bricks, sand, steel, and other materials were scattered everywhere.

The once imposing rows of buildings have now become piles of rubble.

Trucks carrying steel and debris are working at full capacity to quickly clear the land for the government.

However, within the plot of land, the L-shaped building (located at the corner of Le Hong Phong and Vinh Vien streets) remains intact and has not been demolished. This is where a trucking company uses to deliver and receive goods.

According to the District 10 People's Committee, the land at 419 Le Hong Phong Street is included in the plan for the construction of a new secondary school as stipulated in the Resolution of the 12th District 10 Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term. The committee has also requested the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to agree to forcibly evict people and property from the land to hand it over to the Land Fund Development Center (under the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Natural Resources and Environment) starting from September 9th.

Thus, more than three years after the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to reclaim the "prime land" at 419 Le Hong Phong, the land is now being withdrawn to make way for the handover of the site. The purpose of reclaiming this land is to build a secondary school in a densely populated residential area, contributing to addressing the growing demand for education. The project not only improves educational infrastructure but also helps to efficiently utilize public land, preventing waste of the city's land resources.
