On February 28th, Bach Mai Hospital issued a warning to the public about scams involving scheduling appointments at the hospital.

According to the patient's account, needing to take her child to the doctor, she searched online for information on "booking an appointment at Bach Mai Hospital" and was scammed out of nearly one million VND by fraudsters for phone calls and appointment bookings.

This person stated that while searching for information online on their phone, they saw an advertisement about scheduling an appointment, so they clicked on it, which led to the website "timkiemtrogiup.com".

Then, customers type "schedule an appointment at Bach Mai Hospital" into the search box, and the hotline number appears, which they then press to call.

When speaking to a "call center operator" and requesting to schedule an appointment for their child at Bach Mai Hospital, customers are instructed that an employee will add them on Zalo and send a confirmation message. Following this, customers receive a QR code for a bank account number, requesting a transfer of 600,000 VND as a deposit for the appointment.

The next morning, when the customer arrived at Bach Mai Hospital for their child's scheduled check-up, they were shocked to find their name was not in the system.

Upon checking the Zalo messages, the customer found that the content had been withdrawn and they could no longer contact the staff member who confirmed the booking. At this point, the customer realized they had been scammed.

Besides being scammed out of 600,000 VND for the appointment booking, the customer also had to pay quite high call charges of 8,000 VND/minute. The total amount lost was nearly 1 million VND.

According to Bach Mai Hospital, the demand for medical examination and treatment at leading hospitals and medical facilities is very high, coupled with the public's desire for "special treatment," which sometimes creates loopholes for fraudsters to exploit and deceive.

Bach Mai Hospital warns people to be cautious when searching for information, scheduling appointments, and visiting clinics to avoid being scammed. They should look for official websites of hospitals and medical facilities to contact and obtain information.
