On May 23rd, readers of Tuoi Tre Online reported that a fake Vinpearl Nha Trang fanpage on Facebook, which has been operating recently, has been scamming and defrauding tourists.
Accordingly, the Vin Pearl Nha Trang Stay fanpage regularly posts articles about promotions ranging from discounted amusement park tickets and airport shuttle services to special offers on resorts and services at Vinpearl.
After advising tourists, this fan page requests a one-time payment and then cuts off all contact.
According to the reporter's observations, this fan page has a verified badge with tens of thousands of followers, publicly available phone numbers and email addresses, and posts that receive thousands of interactions with eye-catching images, easily attracting the attention of tourists.
According to information from Vinpearl, the aforementioned fanpage is fake, and similar cases have appeared recently.
The unit has recorded several cases of customers being scammed due to interacting and transacting with fake fan pages or individuals using names and images very similar to official channels.
Vinpearl also warned that there are currently many forms of impersonation scams, most of which create a credible image with victims by sharing bank transfer receipts, reviews from previous customers, etc.
Then, they lure buyers with various tricks such as making real bookings then canceling the service, offering incredibly low prices, promising non-existent deals, etc.
Vinpearl also stated that it does not accept bookings or ticket purchases through any Facebook page, regardless of whether the page has a blue verification badge or not. If guests wish to book directly with Vinpearl (not through agents or intermediaries), they should go to the official website, mobile app, or call the hotline.
Even verified Facebook pages need to be viewed with caution.
According to Mr. Nguyen Phi Hong Nguyen - Vice Chairman of the Travel Association (Khanh Hoa Tourism Association) - tourists should carefully research and contact reputable websites when booking tickets and rooms on social media.
"Even on websites advertising tours with a blue verification badge, tourists need to do thorough research if they don't know anything about these services, especially when seeing many offers; they should be wary," Mr. Nguyen advised.
For individual or family tours, it's necessary to book tickets through the official websites or fan pages of travel agencies. If booking accommodations outside of official websites, you can use reputable intermediary channels such as Traveloka, Booking, Agoda, etc.
