In recent days, many students in some provinces and cities have reported signs of stomachache and nausea after eating candy of unknown origin. Among them, some students in Quang Ninh province showed signs of poisoning after eating "strange" candy bought outside the school gate.

Warning message from homeroom teacher to parents

Then, on November 29, Hanoi also recorded 11 students in Dai Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district also having similar condition after eating "strange" candy. The ward People's Committee directed the ward police to coordinate with the criminal investigation team and the drug team to go to the store at 19/8 Quang Tien to inspect and confiscate 66 blue plastic bags with pictures of bears, peaches, strawberries, coca, and apricots; the packaging had foreign brands on it. Dai Mo ward police are waiting for an appraisal.

Faced with this situation, on the evening of November 30, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong directed the Department of Education and Training of 30 districts, towns, and affiliated units and schools to request schools to strengthen management and ensure food safety and hygiene in schools. Schools need to step up propaganda for all parents and students not to buy snacks of unknown origin; at the same time, disseminate information to parents and students to pay attention and strengthen management of their children's learning and living situation.

The Hanoi Department of Education and Training also requested units and schools to direct cadres, teachers, staff, students and trainees to uphold their sense of responsibility to proactively detect establishments around school gates that sell products and food of unknown origin and immediately report to local authorities for timely prevention measures.

On the evening of November 30, many schools in Hanoi issued notices and sent text messages to all parents to warn them about the above situation. Accordingly, the homeroom teacher informed all parents about the appearance of a type of candy with a foreign printed wrapper and no Vietnamese label.

Schools have also sent warnings to parents about the effects of this candy, citing the incident of some students in Quang Ninh buying this candy outside the school gate and eating it, suffering from headaches, stomachaches, and nausea. Schools are also warning parents about the suspicion that this candy contains drugs.
