On October 6, due to the influence of storm No. 11, heavy rains caused floodwaters to rise, causing flooding and traffic jams in many communes and wards of Son La province. In particular, Van Ho General Hospital, Thao Nguyen facility (in Thao Nguyen ward, Son La province) was deeply flooded, causing damage to many equipment.
Speaking to reporters, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Van, Head of Nursing Department of Van Ho General Hospital, said that at about 8:00 a.m. the same day, floodwaters suddenly rose, collapsing the walls of houses next to the hospital, causing water to flood into many areas within the hospital grounds.

Due to the large amount of flood water that quickly flooded many departments and offices of the hospital, the water level was nearly 1 meter high, causing damage to many medical equipment, medicines and facilities. Along with that, many computers, tables, chairs, beds, cabinets, etc. in the departments and rooms on the first floor were also flooded.
Initial statistics showed that the entire computer system was flooded and unusable. As soon as the water flooded into the hospital, staff and doctors promptly and safely moved more than 200 patients and their families to the upper floors.

Present at the scene, Mr. Tran Dan Khoi, Secretary of the Party Committee of Thao Nguyen Ward, said that as soon as receiving the information, the local authorities coordinated with officers and soldiers of the Fire Prevention and Rescue Police Department, the Defense Command of Moc Chau Region 4 and the on-site forces of the hospital to organize the movement of equipment, clean up, drain water, and overcome the consequences.
