Ho Chi Minh City strengthens environmental protection

On October 6, Vice Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Bui Minh Thanh signed a document conveying the opinion of the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee on the implementation of a number of contents related to environmental protection work in the city.

Accordingly, the Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of communes, wards and special zones to organize the implementation of national environmental technical regulations according to the guiding circulars of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment; proactively review and organize the prevention and response to environmental incidents to ensure compliance with the actual situation; strengthen inspection work according to authority, promptly and strictly handle violations of environmental laws; handle and remedy pollution sources in polluted areas and facilities causing environmental pollution; support facilities causing environmental pollution to thoroughly handle them; promote green transformation investment in various fields, minimize waste recycling according to the circular economic model, and produce environmentally friendly products.

The Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee directed the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City to study and propose in the direction of advising the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue local technical regulations in case the national technical regulations issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment applied in Ho Chi Minh City do not ensure the maintenance of the goal of protecting environmental quality.

At the same time, preside over and coordinate with departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of wards, communes, special zones and related units to urgently develop and submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee to issue a Waste Incident Response Plan until 2030 after merging with Binh Duong province and Ba Ria - Vung Tau province.
