The Ministry of Education and Training has recently issued a warning about scams related to participation in international student exchange and study abroad programs.

According to the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Education and Training), recently, many forms of fraud have emerged related to student exchange programs, international summer camps, and study abroad scholarships. Some citizens have been deceived into paying hundreds of millions of VND in fees to participate in study abroad scholarship programs.

Scammers often employ sophisticated tactics such as impersonating educational institutions, government agencies, or setting up fake websites and social media accounts to entice students to register, requesting participants to provide personal information, submit applications, and pay fees in order to steal information and misappropriate the victims' assets.

In order to proactively prevent and deter fraudulent activities and protect the legitimate rights of students, the Ministry of Education and Training requests that the Departments of Education and Training and higher education institutions disseminate warnings and information to students about fraudulent activities related to student exchange programs and international scholarships through the schools' official communication channels.

Students are advised to seek information about scholarships and studying abroad from official sources.

The Ministry of Education and Training stated that it is currently implementing several projects and scholarship programs using state budget funds to send people to study abroad.

Announcements regarding scholarship programs are sent to ministries, ministerial-level agencies, People's Committees of provinces and centrally-administered cities, universities, academies, colleges, and are posted on the Ministry of Education and Training's electronic portal at https://moet.gov.vn and the International Cooperation Department's electronic portal (Ministry of Education and Training) at https://icd.edu.vn.

In addition, several scholarship programs funded by foreign governments through the Ministry of Education and Training are also posted on the website of the Department of International Cooperation. Students who wish to apply should follow the instructions on the aforementioned official websites.
