Tax Department No. 9 ( Hai Phong ) has just issued a warning about the appearance of individuals impersonating tax officials to commit fraud and seize assets from citizens and businesses in the area.
According to the tax authorities, perpetrators use sophisticated tactics such as making direct phone calls, sending fake invitations via email or online platforms, requesting recipients to come to the tax office to discuss the implementation of electronic identification for household businesses and enterprises; and the application of value-added tax reduction and refund policies. Before going to the tax office, they request recipients to file electronic tax returns to receive electronic documents and a tax identification number…
Notably, fake invitations are often designed to resemble official administrative documents, complete with stamps and signatures, making them easily mistaken for legitimate ones if recipients don't carefully verify their origin.
Tax Department No. 9 affirms that it does not conduct business via personal phone calls or emails to request information from individuals and businesses regarding the aforementioned matters. All official notices and invitations are sent through legally mandated channels and can be verified directly at the tax office.
The tax authorities advise citizens and businesses to be vigilant. Upon receiving suspicious information, they should proactively contact the relevant tax authority for verification and investigation to avoid being exploited and suffering losses.
