Experts report at the conference

According to Dr. Lam Van Nut, the vascular system plays a role in transporting blood throughout the body. Vascular diseases are diseases that affect the circulatory system. When the coronary arteries accumulate plaque and cholesterol, it will lead to blockage.

Common vascular diseases include peripheral vascular disease; abdominal aortic aneurysm; coronary artery disease, etc. Vascular diseases can cause serious cardiovascular complications such as thrombosis, stroke, myocardial infarction. Currently, the disease has not received adequate attention. When the disease is not treated promptly, patients often suffer from very dangerous complications.

The disease occurs mostly in the elderly (50 years of age and older), of which 70% of patients are concentrated in the age group of 70 years of age and older.

The main cause of vascular disease is atherosclerosis (accounting for 90%). As we age, atherosclerosis of blood vessel walls can cause narrowing, blockage, dilation, and aneurysm of blood vessels. In addition, there are a number of other causes such as diabetes, metabolic disorders, high blood pressure, kidney failure, etc.

Currently, the disease model related to blood vessels is very diverse, related to many different specialties such as cardiology, endocrinology, geriatrics. However, with the remarkable development of technology, the problem of diagnosis and endovascular intervention has promptly limited risks as well as solved many complicated disease cases.

"The disease is very much related to lifestyle factors. Therefore, to prevent the disease, you should eat moderately, have a reasonable exercise regimen, and not smoke...

In particular, the disease often progresses silently, so when signs such as leg numbness, cramps, high blood pressure or having accompanying diseases appear, it is necessary to regularly screen and have periodic health check-ups to promptly detect the disease and treat it early" - Doctor Nut recommends.

Speaking at the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Huu Uoc, Chairman of the Vietnam Vascular Diseases Association, said that the conference had 149 scientific reports, 5 sessions of sharing and exchanging scientific research with international experts... This is an opportunity for doctors to exchange and update the latest specialized knowledge at home and abroad about vascular diseases to increase the effectiveness of treatment for patients.
