The North-South Expressway project through Binh Thuan province, with a total length of 160.4km, includes the Cam Lam - Vinh Hao (12km), Vinh Hao - Phan Thiet (100.1km), and Phan Thiet - Dau Giay (98km) sections, and is eagerly awaited by many people in the southern provinces. The image shows the section of the expressway from Phan Thiet to Vinh Hao, with a total investment of nearly 11,000 billion VND, being completed urgently to be ready for traffic by April 30th.
The entire route, designed in phase 1, includes 4 lanes, a road width of 17m, and a maximum speed of 80km/h, passing through the districts of Tuy Phong, Bac Binh, Ham Thuan Bac, and Ham Thuan Nam (Binh Thuan province).
Construction began in September 2020, and the section of the expressway passing through Ham Tri commune, Ham Thuan Bac district, is currently undergoing completion of safety measures. The road surface has been paved with asphalt and painted, and dozens of kilometers of median barriers have just been installed.
Because many sections of the road pass through rocky mountains, the construction units had to use explosives and cut through the mountains to build the road.
At the intersection of the Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao Expressway and National Highway 28 in Ma Lam town, the contractor is currently completing the overpass, asphalt paving, concrete bridge surface, and railings... in order to quickly put the project into operation.
The project includes 31 bridges on the main route, 20 overpasses, one bridge on the route connecting the expressway with National Highway 1, and 5 overpasses at interchanges.
Similar to some other projects, the Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway does not have continuous emergency lanes, but instead has emergency stopping points at intervals.
However, about 10 days before the official inauguration, many sections were still in disarray. Four contractors were facing difficulties in leveling the ground for the access roads, cross roads, and C12.5 asphalt concrete paving on the main route…
Along the route through Ham Thuan Nam and Ham Thuan Bac districts, dozens of construction vehicles operate every day.
The Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway is one of 26 key transportation projects expected to open to traffic on April 30th and May 1st.
Along with the Dau Giay - Phan Thiet expressway, when this project is put into operation, it will shorten travel time from Ho Chi Minh City to the South Central provinces.
| To put the Phan Thiet - Vinh Hao expressway into operation in time for the anniversary of the complete liberation of Southern Vietnam on April 30th, the Ministry of Transport has directed relevant units to ensure the completion of the following items according to the specified progress milestones: hot asphalt paving before April 22nd; installation of expansion joints on bridges along the main route and completion of the signage system before April 25th; road markings, median strips, anti-glare barriers, corrugated iron fences, drainage ditches, and site cleaning and tidying before April 28th. |
