Having spent most of his youth studying, working and living in Vietnam, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Palestine to Vietnam Saadi Salama recounted these stories in the book “My Vietnam Story”, which was recently released to readers.

Ambassador Saadi Salama wearing ao ba ba, along with designer Minh Hanh and Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Thu Anh, came to Vi Thanh Rural Market.

The book is written in the form of a memoir, recording the author's feelings since he was a 10-year-old boy, hearing the two words Vietnam on the limited media. At that time, he knew that this was a poor but resilient and heroic country that had fought off foreign invaders to regain independence and freedom for the nation.

As a patriot, living in a constant war, the older he gets, the more aware and aware he is of the similarities between the two countries, wanting to explore and gain more valuable experiences. So, when he had the opportunity, he chose Vietnam to study abroad and it opened up the opportunity for him to be attached to this S-shaped country for decades.

The book is over 300 pages thick, consisting of 14 chapters, recording his entire life from his childhood in Idna village, Hebron city, Palestine until he came to Vietnam to study in 1980, his path to becoming a diplomat in Vietnam as well as some other countries. In 14 chapters, he devoted many chapters to talking about the difficulties of integrating into the new environment, learning Vietnamese, loving Vietnamese language, loving Vietnamese culture, loving Hanoi... With his love for Vietnam, he overcame difficulties and cultural and language barriers to absorb a lot of knowledge about the country he loves like his second homeland.

He is very good at Vietnamese, thinks and thinks in Vietnamese. Through the process of studying and working in Vietnam, he learned more stories about the history of the tenacious resistance against the enemy, met outstanding politicians and military leaders, witnessed many ups and downs, full of difficulties and challenges of Vietnam after the war and gradually rose up on a separate path, to build the country, so that today the position of Vietnam in the region and in the world is being affirmed. He also felt the traditional and modern cultural values, the cultural exchange in the process of development, integration and filtered out the very unique cultural features of the Vietnamese people in each region, to create a unique feature that is difficult to blend...

The most interesting thing in this book is the chapters where he records his feelings about his homeland Vietnam and the people who have been with him, giving him strength to overcome difficulties and challenges. There was a period when he returned to his homeland, went to other countries to work, but every time he returned to Vietnam, he was always moved as if he were returning home... The story becomes more engaging when he discusses the issue of Vietnamese language and culture. Reading the author's lines, even Vietnamese people are surprised and impressed by the insightful, subtle perspective and complete perception of Vietnamese people and Vietnamese culture.

Many people who read this book agree: It must be someone who has a great love for Vietnam, loves the Vietnamese people, and Vietnamese culture, to diligently research to be able to understand it as if it were understanding themselves and their people. He showed the Vietnamese how beautiful they are, how great their patriotism and national pride are, and how unique their cultural traditions are in the eyes of foreigners. The evidence he gave to confirm his perception of the Vietnamese people is well-founded and those are very unique features that create uniqueness and distinction.

In the preface to the book, poet Nguyen Quang Thieu, Chairman of the Vietnam Writers Association, wrote: “His perception of the people and country of Vietnam makes the Vietnamese themselves recognize new beauties in the culture of their country. He brings a perspective from another culture, another geographical region and another religion to make Vietnam appear in a new spirit. I recognize my country in the beauty that he has just discovered...” (page 8).

It is difficult to express in words the appreciation for a foreigner who loves Vietnam with a deep love. He has brought to readers valuable feelings about his country, about the traditional culture of his people, to love and appreciate the values of the past more, to join hands and contribute to preserve and promote those values in accordance with the development trend of modern life, worthy of the heroic tradition of the nation.

Each page is filled with feelings, emotions and life material from experiences, drawing the audience into each fascinating story...
