Leaders of Dong Ha Ward People's Committee (province) Quang Tri ) confirmed that a tree on Ham Nghi Street (Dong Ha Ward) was uprooted and fell onto the road, crushing two motorbikes.
Accordingly, at 4:45 p.m. on August 17, in front of house number 9, Ham Nghi street, a very large royal poinciana tree uproot fell onto the road. Fortunately, both motorbikes carrying 4 people were hit by the phoenix tree when they happened to pass by and escaped unharmed. One motorbike carried a mother and child and the other motorbike carried a husband and wife. Many people witnessed this heart-stopping incident.
After the incident, the People's Committee of Dong Ha Ward dispatched forces to the scene to urgently handle and clean up. By the evening of the same day, the phoenix tree stump that had fallen onto the road had been removed from the scene.
According to the forecast of the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, from August 17 to the night of August 18, the Northeast, Thanh Hoa and Nghe An will have moderate rain, heavy rain and thunderstorms, with common rainfall of 50-120mm, some places will have very heavy rain over 250mm, in the northern mountainous areas 30-80mm, some places over 150mm.
During the day and night of August 17, Ha Tinh and Quang Tri will have moderate to heavy rain with rainfall ranging from 40-90mm, locally very heavy rain over 200mm. The Northwest, Hue City and the South Central Coast, the Central Highlands and the South will have scattered showers and thunderstorms, locally heavy to very heavy rain, rainfall of 10-30mm, some places over 80mm.
The meteorological agency warned of the risk of heavy rain with rainfall exceeding 100mm in just 3 hours. After continuous rain, Phu Tho, Lao Cai, Quang Ninh, Ha Tinh, Quang Tri are localities warned of the risk of flash floods on small rivers and streams, landslides on slopes in a series of communes/wards in the coming hours.
