According to VietNamNet reporters, the rain tree in front of house number 24-26 Hue street (Nguyen Du ward, Hai Ba Trung district, Hanoi ) suddenly lost its leaves.
The mahogany tree was planted 50 years ago and is one of the oldest trees with the widest canopy on Hue Street, about 30m high (as tall as the 6-storey house next door), with a radius of more than 1m.
Ms. Le Ngoc Diep (at 24 Hue Street) said that this phenomenon happened more than 20 days ago. Many people living in the area suspect that the tree was forced to die, leading to the leaf loss.
"About half a month ago, the leaves of the rosewood tree suddenly fell overnight. We suspect that someone caused the tree to do that. However, this is just a prediction. The authorities will determine whether it is right or wrong," said Ms. Diep.
Regarding the above incident, a representative of Hanoi Green Parks and Trees One Member Co., Ltd. said that after receiving the information, the unit sent people to check and prune weak branches to ensure safety.
“We have reported to the relevant departments about the phenomenon of the rain tree losing its leaves. We believe that this tree is not dead yet. The unit has trimmed and is monitoring the tree,” said a representative of the Hanoi Green Parks and Trees One Member Co., Ltd.
According to this person, it is normal for the leaves of the soapberry tree to fall before summer, but it has never been as bare as this time.
"Regarding the people's suspicion that the tree was forced to die, leading to leaf loss, we have received their opinions and coordinated with relevant units to investigate and clarify the matter," said a representative of Hanoi Green Parks and Trees One Member Co., Ltd.
