Central Retail Vietnam co-organizes Vietnamese Goods Week in Udon Thani, Thailand 2024

(CPV) - The Vietnam Goods Week in Udon Thani, Thailand 2024 is expected to continue to promote trade, support Vietnamese businesses to expand markets, and strengthen economic cooperation with Thailand.

On November 7, Vietnam's Week in Udon Thani, Thailand 2024, co-organized by Central Retail Vietnam, Central Group Thailand and Ho Chi Minh City Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC), officially opened in Central Udon.

The event took place from November 7 to November 10, showcasing Ho Chi Minh City products in Udon Thani province, Thailand.

Attending the opening ceremony were the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, Director of the Trade Promotion Agency, Ministry of Industry and Trade Vu Ba Phu; Deputy Director of the Domestic Market Department, Ministry of Industry and Trade Bui Nguyen Anh Tuan; Leaders of ITPC; Acting Governor of Udon Thani Province; Vietnamese Association of Udon Thani Province and nearly 40 enterprises participating in the program...

Held for the first time in Udon Thani - a province in the Northeast region of Thailand with more than 60,000 overseas Vietnamese and more than 15,000 Vietnamese people living, the program aims to connect trade, promote the image and unique culture of Vietnam to consumers through the introduction of outstanding, high-quality products from nearly 40 enterprises of Ho Chi Minh City, Quang Nam, Tien Giang, Tay Ninh, Kien Giang.

The products promoted, including agricultural products, processed foods, tea, coffee, dried foods, spices, pharmaceuticals, handicrafts, household goods, fashion... all meet international export standards, with impressively designed packaging, including clean - organic products, environmentally friendly products. In addition, visitors can also experience wearing Vietnamese silk ao dai and taking souvenir photos at the Ben Thanh Market Gate Area; Learn about the artisans' art of making figurines.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the Kingdom of Thailand Pham Viet Hung delivered the opening speech at the event.

ITPC Deputy Director Ho Thi Quyen said that over the years, ITPC has closely coordinated with Central Retail Vietnam to organize trade connection activities such as Vietnam Product Introduction Week, export promotion programs and bring Vietnamese goods into the distribution system of Central Group not only in Vietnam but also in Thailand. Vietnam Goods Week in Udon Thani, Thailand 2024 is the first event marking this cooperation to be held outside of Vietnam.

“Organizing the Vietnam Goods Week - Ho Chi Minh City Products Exhibition Area in Udon Thani, Thailand 2024 will not only help Vietnamese goods penetrate deeper into the Thai market through a large distribution system, but also be an opportunity to promote the image of the country, culture and products of Vietnam. The program is an opportunity for Thai people and international friends to directly experience quality products from Vietnamese enterprises, and at the same time, it is a bridge to promote trade relations between Thailand and Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City,” Ms. Ho Thi Quyen emphasized.

Also within the framework of the event, Central Group's purchasing team from the Tops supermarket chain will have the opportunity to connect directly with Vietnamese businesses through the Vietnam - Thailand business connection program, supporting Vietnamese businesses to bring their products into Thailand's modern distribution system. Vietnamese businesses will have the opportunity to work with business associations in Thailand, survey supermarkets and modern distribution systems in Udon Thani, creating a premise for development and enhancing competitive opportunities when entering the international market.

Traditional Vietnamese culture is promoted at Vietnamese Goods Week.

“We are particularly pleased to host this event in Udon Thani, where there is a large Vietnamese community. Beyond showcasing the best Vietnamese products, we expect the event to foster connections between the Vietnamese and Thai business communities. With this solid foundation, we believe that today’s event will be successful in encouraging Thai consumers and the Vietnamese community in Udon Thani to embrace and support Vietnamese products, thereby further strengthening the trade relationship between Vietnam and Thailand,” said Jariya Chirathivat, Executive Vice President of Business Development at Central Group.

Since 2016, through the annual Vietnamese Week in Thailand, Central Group and Central Retail Vietnam have partnered with the Ministry of Industry and Trade to create a platform that allows nearly 500 Vietnamese businesses to introduce their products to Thai consumers, increasing export opportunities. Popular seasonal fruits from Vietnam, such as lychee, longan and dragon fruit, are regularly exported to Thailand through Central Group's retail network.

The Vietnamese Goods Week in Udon Thani is expected to continue to promote trade, support Vietnamese businesses to expand markets, strengthen economic cooperation with Thailand and enhance the position of Vietnamese products in the international market./.
