Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, surprised many by not seeing AI as the biggest threat to children. Instead, he argues that addictive short videos on social media are disrupting the dopamine system and deeply affecting the immature brain.
In a recent interview, Altman worried that this content is "distorting" the way children's brains develop. He believes that young people can adapt well to AI, but are vulnerable to the constant dopamine stimulation from consumer technology.
Altman said older generations are the group that will have a hard time adapting to AI due to established habits. However, he also warned that the abuse of ChatGPT to make personal decisions could cause young people to lose their ability to think independently. Altman's views are echoed by experts like professor Jonathan Haidt, who told Business Insider that social media apps are "causing serious harm to children in the Western world .
This warning further emphasizes: technology is not bad, but how people use it is the most worrying thing. Dear readers, please watch more videos: AI Trash Cleaning | Hanoi 18:00
