Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City Tran The Thuan said that the book fair is not only a place to display and introduce valuable books and documents, but also a profound cultural activity, aiming to promote revolutionary historical values and enhance reading culture among the people.
“We continue to concretize Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people, as well as Resolution No. 162/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period. Thereby, contributing to improving people's knowledge, enjoying spiritual and cultural products, towards the title of " World Book Capital" recognized by UNESCO", Mr. Tran The Thuan emphasized.
Mr. Tran The Thuan said that the Book Fair displays books about President Ho Chi Minh , publications and documents reflecting the innovation, creativity and comprehensive development of the city in the 2020 - 2025 term, while honoring legendary figures of Con Dao such as: Hero of the Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau, patriot Nguyen An Ninh...
The book fair also includes activities such as art performances with the theme "Poems that shape the country"; giving away bookshelves and developing reading culture...
The book fair runs until October 5.
