Ho Chi Minh City: Opening of book fair with theme "Legend of Con Dao"

On the evening of October 4, the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City held the opening ceremony of the book fair "Legend of Con Dao" in Con Dao special zone, welcoming the 1st Congress of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, term 2025-2030.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Director of the Department of Culture and Sports of Ho Chi Minh City Tran The Thuan said that the book fair is not only a place to display and introduce valuable books and documents, but also a profound cultural activity, aiming to promote revolutionary historical values ​​and enhance reading culture among the people.

“We continue to concretize Resolution No. 33-NQ/TW of the 11th Party Central Committee on building and developing Vietnamese culture and people, as well as Resolution No. 162/2024/QH15 of the National Assembly on the National Target Program on Cultural Development for the 2025-2035 period. Thereby, contributing to improving people's knowledge, enjoying spiritual and cultural products, towards the title of " World Book Capital" recognized by UNESCO", Mr. Tran The Thuan emphasized.

Mr. Tran The Thuan said that the Book Fair displays books about President Ho Chi Minh , publications and documents reflecting the innovation, creativity and comprehensive development of the city in the 2020 - 2025 term, while honoring legendary figures of Con Dao such as: Hero of the Armed Forces Vo Thi Sau, patriot Nguyen An Ninh...

The book fair also includes activities such as art performances with the theme "Poems that shape the country"; giving away bookshelves and developing reading culture...

The book fair runs until October 5.

Before the opening ceremony, delegates and people of Con Dao attended the memorial service for heroic martyrs, heroic Vietnamese mothers, and former political prisoners at Hang Keo Cemetery, Hang Duong Cemetery, Con Dao Temple, and the memorial stele at the historic Pier 914.
