Schedule to start construction of projects connecting Long Thanh Airport, Ho Chi Minh City
According to the plan, Long Thanh International Airport Phase 1 will be put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026. Therefore, in addition to a series of projects under construction, Dong Nai province is also accelerating the completion of procedures to soon start construction of the province's projects with the goal of increasing connectivity to exploit the development momentum from Long Thanh Airport.
To serve traffic connection with Long Thanh Airport, Dong Nai province has planned to implement projects to upgrade, expand and build new provincial roads 769, 773, 770B and 769E.
According to Mr. Dinh Tien Hai, Director of the Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board, for the projects to upgrade, expand and build new routes, the unit and the consulting contractor are currently implementing the steps to complete the construction design documents to be implemented after the basic design as well as preparing and submitting for approval the feasibility study reports of the projects.
Regarding the progress of implementation, Mr. Dinh Tien Hai said: The project to upgrade and expand provincial road 769 is likely to start construction in February 2026. Meanwhile, the projects to build provincial road 770B and upgrade and expand provincial road 773 are expected to start construction in April 2026.
As for the Provincial Road 769E Construction Project, due to the need to handle issues related to intersections with the high-speed railway on the North-South axis and the Thu Thiem-Long Thanh railway, the progress is slower than the above projects. This project is expected to start construction at the end of 2026.
Regarding the construction projects of Cat Lai Bridge, Long Hung Bridge and Phu My 2 Bridge, the People's Committee of Dong Nai Province and the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City have also agreed to identify these as projects connecting Ho Chi Minh City with Long Thanh Airport, shortening the connection distance from the center of Ho Chi Minh City to Ba Ria - Vung Tau area. Therefore, the two localities identified these as urgent projects that need to be implemented soon to serve the exploitation of Long Thanh Airport and need to focus on speeding up the progress to start the projects in the fourth quarter of 2025, at the latest in the first quarter of 2026.
Don't let land "hold back" projects
According to Provincial Party Committee member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha: Investing in transport infrastructure projects connecting Long Thanh Airport as well as connecting Dong Nai province with Ho Chi Minh City is very urgent to create development momentum for the province in the coming time. Therefore, units and localities must prepare well for proposing investment forms and site clearance for projects. In particular, functional agencies and localities are implementing procedures to prepare for project investment and site clearance to serve project construction. "Most of the transport projects in the province are behind schedule, the biggest reason being the slow site clearance" - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha said.
For projects that have a construction start date, site clearance work must clearly define the completion date and the person directly responsible, avoiding the situation of "having a start date but no end date" as in the past.
Provincial Party Committee Member, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ho Van Ha
Director of the Provincial Land Fund Development Center Mai Phong Phu said: For the projects to upgrade, expand, and build new provincial roads 769, 773, 770B, after the Provincial People's Committee resolved problems related to the appraisal of estimates in technical design - estimates for surveying and mapping for land recovery and compensation, the unit issued a plan to implement compensation work, approved the results of selecting surveying contractors and surveying contracts. "Currently, routes 770B and 769 have basically completed field surveying work, and are in the process of signing confirmation of surveying results for land users" - Mr. Mai Phong Phu said.
Regarding the site clearance of projects, localities where the projects pass through have also made recommendations to the provincial authorities to quickly resolve issues regarding planning and construction of resettlement areas as well as increase human resource support for compensation and site clearance work.
Mr. Doan Minh Tri, Chairman of the People's Committee of An Phuoc Commune, Dong Nai Province, said: The commune currently has about 16 key projects of the Central Government as well as the province being implemented. The amount of work related to site clearance is very large, however, the human resources are not enough to carry out the work. Therefore, to speed up the progress of site clearance, the locality really needs to add more human resources to carry out the work.
