Caring for the lives of Agent Orange victims

Although the war is long over, the effects of Agent Orange/dioxin are still felt in Da Nang . To help alleviate the suffering caused by Agent Orange, various organizations and associations in the city have implemented many meaningful initiatives to support and assist Agent Orange victims in overcoming adversity and improving their lives.

Due to the severe aftereffects of chemical toxins, at the age of 18, Truong Minh Phu's cognitive abilities are only at the level of a normal 2 or 3-year-old child. Every day, Phu is transported to the Da Nang Center for the Protection of Agent Orange Victims and Disadvantaged Children for rehabilitation, vocational training, and general education. Although Phu's learning ability is slow, he has a passion and talent for sports , so the teachers at the Center have created opportunities for him to play and practice, helping him to enjoy learning more…

Over the years, the Da Nang City Association of Agent Orange Victims has advised and proposed to Party committees and authorities at all levels, coordinating with relevant departments and agencies to effectively implement preferential policies for Agent Orange victims; promoting various forms of propaganda and social mobilization to uphold the spirit of "mutual support and compassion"; actively mobilizing funds to assist victim families in particularly difficult circumstances, visiting, giving gifts, providing medical examinations and treatment; awarding scholarships to victims' children and grandchildren; and creating livelihoods for victims and their families. With the call and solidarity of all political and social organizations, activities aimed at Agent Orange victims have been organized continuously and practically, helping Agent Orange victims and their families improve their lives.

From the beginning of 2024 to the present, through various forms of propaganda and mobilization, the city's Agent Orange victims' associations at all levels have received more than 11 billion VND contributed by organizations and individuals both domestically and internationally. This has been used to support, care for, and assist more than 16,800 Agent Orange victims, contributing to helping Agent Orange victims and their families overcome adversity and improve their lives.
