The war has ended, but the effects of Agent Orange/dioxin are still present in Da Nang. In order to help ease the pain of Agent Orange, the city's units, associations and unions have carried out many meaningful activities to accompany and support Agent Orange victims to overcome adversity and improve their lives.

Da Nang cares about and looks after the lives of Agent Orange victims

Due to severe consequences of toxic chemicals, at the age of 18, Truong Minh Phu's awareness is only like that of normal children of 2 or 3 years old. Every day, Phu is taken to the Center for Supporting Victims of Agent Orange and Unfortunate Children in Da Nang to practice rehabilitation; learn a trade and teach culture. Although Phu's ability to absorb is still slow, he has a passion and talent for sports, so the teachers at the Center have created conditions for him to play and practice, helping Phu love studying more...

Over the years, the Association of Agent Orange Victims of Da Nang City has advised and proposed to Party committees and authorities at all levels, coordinated with relevant departments, branches and agencies to effectively implement preferential policies for Agent Orange victims; promoted forms of propaganda and social mobilization to promote the spirit of "Mutual love and support"; actively mobilized funds to support families of victims in especially difficult circumstances, visited, gave gifts, examined and treated patients; awarded scholarships to children of victims; created livelihoods for victims and their families. With the appeal and consensus of all political and social organizations, activities for Agent Orange victims have been organized continuously and practically, helping Agent Orange victims and their families improve their lives.

From the beginning of 2024 to now, through many forms of propaganda and mobilization, the city's Agent Orange Association at all levels has received more than 11 billion VND from contributions from domestic and foreign organizations and individuals. Thereby, it has supported, cared for, and helped more than 16,800 Agent Orange victims, contributing to helping Agent Orange victims and their families overcome adversity and rise up in life./.
