President Vo Van Thuong delivered a speech at the program.

As the core and leading force in carrying out the task of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of the people, the health sector has achieved important accomplishments, creating remarkable progress in many specialized fields, contributing to improving the stature and health of Vietnamese people, making a very important contribution to the development of the country, making Vietnam a bright spot in achieving the Millennium Development Goals and firmly on track to achieve the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

Particularly in the field of healthcare and public health, Vietnam is one of the countries with a widespread healthcare system from the grassroots level, including remote areas, border regions, and islands, and is a leader in reducing maternal and child mortality rates.

The health indicators of the people have improved significantly; the poor, ethnic minorities, children, the elderly, and people with disabilities all receive support in accessing healthcare services. Medical examination and treatment services have been continuously improved. Many infectious and social diseases have been controlled or eliminated, and the health and life expectancy of the people have increased.

Among the medical staff, many have become shining symbols of medical ethics, dedication, boldness, and commitment to the people and the nation, wholeheartedly serving patients, and serving as role models for research, innovation, and creativity.

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the Vietnamese medical team has strived to overcome numerous difficulties and hardships.

Amidst the Covid-19 pandemic that struck every country and every healthcare stronghold, the Vietnamese medical team made strenuous efforts to overcome numerous difficulties and hardships, enduring many losses and sacrifices to work alongside the entire nation in effectively carrying out the task of preventing and controlling the disease.

The immense contributions of the healthcare sector have been recognized by the Party and the State with many prestigious awards, are cherished and trusted by the people, and highly appreciated by colleagues and people domestically, regionally, and internationally.

The President emphasized that the Party and State of Vietnam always place people at the center of the development process, considering "health as the most precious asset of each citizen and of society," "a strong people makes a prosperous nation," and "a healthy citizen means a healthy nation." Protecting, caring for, and improving the health of the people is one of the most important and top-priority tasks.

Encouraging a spirit of innovation, creativity, and daring to think and act.

The President also stated that, after the Covid-19 pandemic, the world is increasingly facing many challenges, including climate change, environmental pollution, food security, water security, crises and conflicts, and increasing social pressure...

Many issues remain as obstacles and bottlenecks, such as: inappropriate policies and regulations for medical staff, difficult living conditions for healthcare workers, regulations and laws that have not kept pace with reality, difficulties in healthcare management, healthcare finance, and financial autonomy, unsafe working environments in some places and at some times, and overcrowding in higher-level hospitals, etc. These are all impediments to the work of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of the people and the work of medical professionals, and need to be addressed in both the short and long term.

"To work together to build a scientific, national, and accessible Vietnamese healthcare system, to innovate and improve the healthcare system towards fairness, quality, efficiency, development, and international integration, contributing to the sustainable development, prosperity, and happiness of the country, requires us to make even greater efforts and strive harder," the President emphasized.

And it is suggested that the health sector should, in the immediate future, quickly finalize appropriate policies and laws, establish a professional, safe, and favorable working environment for doctors, nurses, and medical staff to practice their profession; and protect, support, and encourage the spirit of innovation, creativity, and daring to think and act.

The President expressed his confidence that the staff and employees of the health sector will always be united and creative, working together for the cause of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of the people.

Successfully implementing the tasks of the health sector regarding the application of digital transformation, the application of science and technology, human resource training, technology transfer to lower-level facilities, development of primary healthcare, strengthening preventive medicine, combining traditional and modern medicine, etc., striving to meet the healthcare needs of the people, especially in remote areas and areas inhabited by ethnic minorities, contributing together with the Party, the State and the political system to achieve the goal of ensuring equity in protecting, caring for and improving the health of the people.

Building upon past achievements, striving tirelessly, and continuing to overcome challenges and limitations in the diagnosis and treatment of various diseases, every physician needs to maintain their passion for the profession, possess a spirit of exploration and research, embrace new knowledge, master advanced, specialized, and modern scientific and technical skills, value continuity between generations, and train and nurture the next generation of medical professionals.

With their medical ethics, intelligence, talent, and great aspirations, the Vietnamese medical team can set new visions and high goals, striving to bring the Vietnamese healthcare sector among the top countries in the region and to reach global standards, contributing to solving global health problems, and bringing about profound social and humanitarian benefits.

Expressing joy at the achievements made, the President emphasized: "We must not forget the challenges and difficulties ahead, reminding each other that the journey of treating diseases, saving lives, and caring for the people's health is a never-ending journey. The hardships and difficulties of the medical profession never end, requiring every doctor, medical assistant, and medical staff member to always remember the Hippocratic Oath, to persevere, to strive even harder in all aspects, to possess complete knowledge, to have perfect virtue, to have a broad mind, and to act cautiously, as the renowned physician Hai Thuong Lan Ong Le Huu Trac once taught and as President Ho Chi Minh advised: 'A good doctor must be like a loving mother.'"

"I believe that the medical staff will always be united and creative, working together for the cause of caring for, protecting, and improving the health of the people, continuing to write humane and touching stories, continuing to be a great source of inspiration, bringing faith and hope to each person and each family for a better life," the President emphasized .
