Đảng Cộng SảnĐảng Cộng Sản11/04/2024

Each step on the journey to conquer the running track of this blind young man is not only a matter of willpower and determination but also a trade-off of sweat, tears, and even blood. That journey will be recounted in the Love Station with the theme "Crossing the Darkness" airing at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 13, 2024 on VTV1.

Bringing many medals to the Love Station, Manh proudly introduced them as the results of his efforts to pursue his passion for marathons. Passionate about running since 2013, Manh switched to long-distance running in 2020. When showing off his latest medal when conquering the 42km run around Ha Long city at the 12th ASEAN Para Games, this young man could not hide his joy: "I am the first visually impaired Vietnamese person to conquer a marathon. I am very happy because I not only fulfilled my passion, but also surpassed my own limits."

When asked about the secret to conquering the racetrack, Tien Manh revealed that in addition to having good physical strength and practicing persistently every day, the warm-up is extremely important. With the knowledge he has learned, the Gen Z guy immediately instructed the MC and the audience of Tram Yeu Thuong on the necessary warm-up movements. Looking at Tien Manh's dedication to his skillful movements, no one would think that this guy is blind.

Having suffered from nystagmus since birth, Manh could only see large objects dimly. However, his vision gradually decreased over time, and by 2020, Manh could only distinguish between light and dark. Not being able to see anything sometimes made Manh feel self-conscious, especially when his friends teased him. It was only when he studied at a special school for the visually impaired in Viet Tri that Manh realized that life was much more interesting. The skills taught at school helped Manh integrate into life easily.

In 2014, seeing that Tien Manh had the ability to run, and was very interested in athletics, the teacher instructed his student to practice short runs. Although his family objected because they were worried about his son's safety, the 10X boy never gave up. Manh always practiced diligently despite the many difficulties in the early days, with sweat, tears and even blood after falling and colliding on the track. Painful and tired, Tien Manh never thought of giving up. It was his love, passion and enthusiasm for running that helped the young man overcome all the difficulties.

And that effort was rewarded with a gold medal at the National Running Tournament for Disabled Students in 2014. The joy doubled when the family changed their minds and supported their son to pursue his passion for professional running. Not only winning many medals domestically, Tien Manh is also a member of the Vietnam Para Athletics Team competing at the 12th Para Games in Cambodia in 2023. In his first participation, he excellently won 3 silver medals in the 800m, 1,500m and relay events. The biggest regret is that Tien Manh lost to his opponent in the 1,500m event by only 0.1% of a second. For Tien Manh, contributing to the overall achievements of the Vietnam Disabled Sports Delegation is what makes him most proud: “The weather in Cambodia is very harsh, very different from training at home, but representing my country, no matter how difficult it is, I am not allowed to give up. I am determined to reach the finish line, and am ready to run with my life.”

For every blind athlete, there is always a companion on the running track. The appearance of the person who has been with Manh through many races, “Manh’s eyes” on each race track will partly reveal the difficulties, the relentless efforts, the accidents and the unforgettable memories of this determined blind young man.

Currently, in addition to his work as an athlete, Tien Manh also maintains a running club for the visually impaired. Manh hopes to empower more people in the future, especially those who are still hesitant to run. The gift from Love Station will fuel the 10X guy on his journey to spread his will to live.

How can a blind person master his race when he cannot see? What is the secret that helps an athlete like Vu Tien Manh conquer long running routes? All will be revealed in Love Station with the theme "Crossing the darkness" airing at 10:00 on Saturday, April 13 on VTV1./.
