Previously, on June 17th, Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, signed a decision to transfer and appoint Mr. Ho Van Han, Chief Inspector of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, to the position of Director of the Institute of Traditional Medicine, under the Department of Health. The term of office is 5 years.
Mr. Ho Van Han is entitled to the leadership position allowance coefficient as prescribed and is responsible for completing the handover of his current duties to the Board of Directors of the Department of Health within 15 days from the date the decision takes effect (June 20).
Speaking at the appointment ceremony, Associate Professor Tang Chi Thuong, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that the title "Director" is different from "Institute Director" and has significant meaning.
An institute is an organization specializing in research and training, and the Director is someone with in-depth expertise in this field. A Director, on the other hand, is a position responsible for managing, overseeing, and ensuring compliance with legal regulations within a public institution.

From July 1st, Ho Chi Minh City and the entire country will transition to a two-tiered government system, and the health sector will also undergo appropriate changes, including the urgent reappointment of personnel in affiliated units, including the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine.
Upon reappointment, the Institute Directors will become Deputy Directors.
The Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health expressed his hope that Dr. Ho Van Han – who has been tested in many positions – will soon integrate into the very unique environment of a unit specializing in traditional medicine at the highest level, creating conditions for medical staff to develop well.
Following advice from the Medical Professional Affairs Department, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health will soon organize a conference among experts to provide consultation and guidance on the in-depth development of traditional medicine in hospitals.
"In the coming days, Ho Chi Minh City will have more new traditional medicine hospitals from Vung Tau and Binh Duong."
The role of the Institute of Traditional Medicine is crucial in working with the city's hospitals to ensure the continued development of traditional medicine in line with Ho Chi Minh City's development orientation.
"That means becoming a regional healthcare center in ASEAN," Mr. Thuong said, expressing his hope that key officials of the Institute would overcome difficulties to develop the institution and fulfill the tasks assigned by the Party, the State, and the health sector.
Following the directives of the Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, Specialist Doctor Ho Van Han expressed his gratitude to the Department's leadership for entrusting him with the important responsibility of heading a leading unit specializing in traditional medicine at the national level.

Mr. Han pledged that he and the entire medical staff of the Ho Chi Minh City Institute of Traditional Medicine would work together wholeheartedly, strengthening the application of science and technology… to ensure the institute continues to develop strongly and appropriately.
Mr. Ho Van Han (53 years old) is a specialist doctor in healthcare management, having previously held positions such as Deputy Director of Gia Dinh People's Hospital and Director of Go Vap District Hospital (Ho Chi Minh City).
