Since the beginning of 2025, market management forces in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have recorded hundreds of violations related to health care products, most of which are functional foods and pharmaceuticals of unknown origin. This situation places increasing demands on quality control standards, especially in the production stage. In this context, the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) system has become an important legal basis for establishing trust.
GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) certification is a system of principles to ensure that products are produced and controlled consistently in terms of quality, safety and transparency. This is a mandatory standard for health food production facilities in Vietnam, and is also a measure reflecting the stable operational capacity as well as the ability to control risks of the enterprise at the factory.
Currently, the country has more than 476 health food production enterprises meeting GMP-WHO standards. However, the number of enterprises achieving international certifications is still limited.
Opella - a global corporation with many healthcare brands has been present in Vietnam for more than 70 years.
Opella is one of the few enterprises with production facilities in Vietnam that simultaneously meet three GMP standards: GMP-WHO of the World Health Organization, TGA-GMP of the Australian Therapeutic Goods Administration and MFDS-GMP of the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. Achieving these certifications is a testament to the ability to comprehensively control risks from input materials, production technology, microbiological testing to product distribution and labeling.

Opella's factory is located in Ho Chi Minh City High-Tech Park, with an area of 72,000m² and a capacity of more than 90 million product boxes per year. The production line here is fully automated, applying Omron robots and real-time data monitoring systems. The entire production process is deployed in a closed quality control system, strictly following standard operating procedures (SOP) according to international standards.
Opella’s only Research & Development (R&D) center in Asia and one of four global centers of the group is also located on the factory campus. This investment affirms the group’s strategic commitment to Vietnam in its global manufacturing and innovation network.

By simultaneously meeting three GMP standards, the Opella factory not only produces and supplies products for the domestic market, but also maintains its role in exporting to more than 13 countries, including Australia, Singapore, Korea and the Philippines... One of the typical brands produced here is Calcium Corbiere. This is a calcium supplement product line, which has been honored by the Ministry of Health as "Vietnamese Medicine Star" many times in the past 3 years.
In addition, to ensure product quality during storage and distribution, Opella has built a warehouse in Tay Ninh province (formerly Long An). This warehouse is designed according to international standards, with strict control systems for temperature, humidity and fire prevention.
Proper investment in logistics helps maintain stable quality for both domestically produced and imported products, from storage to transportation and distribution. Accordingly, Vietnamese consumers can confidently access famous imported brands distributed by Opella, such as Pharmaton (multivitamins) and Enterogermina (probiotics), which have been present in the global market for decades.

According to Ms. Valentina Belcheva, General Director of Opella Vietnam and Cambodia, strict control of each stage in the production process is a key factor in maintaining consumer confidence. With the foundation of being a pioneer brand in the field of proactive healthcare with the 3rd largest specialized product portfolio globally in Over-the-Counter (OTC) and Vitamins, Minerals, and Dietary Supplements (VMS), she affirmed that Opella will continue to pursue international standards in the field of proactive healthcare.
“With a long-standing heritage in Vietnam, each of our products is researched on a solid scientific foundation and has received the trust of many generations of consumers. Respecting that trust, we will continuously maintain and improve the quality, bringing healthcare products closer to every citizen. Moreover, we wish to continue to lead new standards for the industry and strengthen the trust of Vietnamese consumers in the trend of proactive self-care of their health,” Ms. Valentina Belcheva emphasized.
