(NLDO)- A major fire broke out at a karaoke bar on Pham Van Dong Street ( Hanoi ) late on December 18, killing many people.
A major fire broke out at around 11pm on December 18, flames suddenly erupted from a karaoke bar at 260 Pham Van Dong, Co Nhue 2 Ward, Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi. There were many people in the bar at the time.
Fire prevention and fighting forces conduct fire fighting and approach the scene of the fire.
According to initial information, the fire started on the main floor and quickly spread to the upper floors of the karaoke bar, which has 3 floors and an attic. The street-front house used as this karaoke bar has a total area of only about 40 square meters.
The fire after engulfing the karaoke bar spread to the adjacent house.
At around 11 p.m., immediately after receiving information about the large fire at 260 Pham Van Dong Street, the Hanoi City Police Command Center immediately mobilized the Fire Prevention, Fire Fighting and Rescue Police (PCCC and CNCH) of the Bac Tu Liem District Police along with 10 fire trucks and specialized equipment to the scene to organize fire fighting and rescue.
Authorities deploy fire fighting
Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Thi Minh Hoai; Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung, Director of Hanoi Police, arrived at the scene to direct fire fighting and rescue work.
Firefighting and rescue forces simultaneously used ladder trucks to reach the third-floor balcony and brought at least four victims down. Although the fire at the karaoke bar was located on a major road, the strong flames made firefighting and rescue difficult.
By around 0:30 on December 19, the fire was completely extinguished. Authorities continued to conduct rescue and search operations for victims. Many victims were covered in blankets and brought out. Initial information said the large fire had killed many people.
Immediately upon receiving information about the major fire, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Pham Thi Minh Hoai and Lieutenant General Nguyen Hai Trung, Director of the Hanoi Police Department, arrived at the scene to direct fire fighting and rescue work.
Hanoi authorities are continuing to conduct rescue operations, overcome the consequences, and clarify the cause of the fire. The initial cause of the large fire is suspected to be gasoline.
