Over the past 28 years (1997-2025), Quang Nam Radio and Television Station has made innovative strides in organizing its journalistic products. From special features, documentary films, entertainment game shows, etc., a region rich in revolutionary traditions and cultural identity has been portrayed, ensuring effective propaganda while contributing to the education of revolutionary historical traditions and promoting the cultural identity of Quang Nam province.
The mark of historical documentary films
Documentary films like "The Epic of the Revolution" are not only valuable resources for Quang Nam province but also serve as precious materials for educating Vietnamese people about patriotic and revolutionary traditions and national pride. Quang Nam Radio and Television Station has pioneered in the field of producing historical documentaries.
Quang Nam Radio and Television Station consistently maintains a weekly program called "Land and People of Quang Nam," producing documentaries that reflect the rich history, culture, and prominent figures of the Quang Nam region.
Specifically in the area of news reporting and documentaries, since 2011 the station has launched the documentary project "Mother Thu Bon". The project has produced 26 documentaries.
The film series "Mother Thu Bon River" covers the history and culture of Quang Nam province from prehistoric times, Sa Huynh, Champa, and the southward expansion of the Dai Viet people. Place names in Quang Nam province associated with the Mother Thu Bon River are featured in the film, such as the headwaters of Tra Linh, Vu Gia, Truong Giang, Chu Lai - Nui Thanh, Tien River, Tranh River, Hon Kem - Da Dung, Lo Canh Giang, and Cu Lao Cham...
When participating in the documentary series "Mother Thu Bon," the late writer Nguyen Khac Phuc stated: "Beyond the thirst for knowledge, the making of the film 'Mother Thu Bon' also contains a deeper love, gratitude, and a desire to explore the land that has existed since the dawn of time, a land that has been passed down through generations of ancestors in Quang Nam, building a glorious legacy and honoring Vietnamese humanistic values on this unique land, encapsulated in the words 'Quang Nam Culture' for generations to come..."
The media success, humanistic message, and above all, the way the "Mother Thu Bon" film series highlighted the cultural and historical heritage of Quang Nam province and its people inspired the provincial station to pursue further projects. Accordingly, the station also simultaneously produced and broadcast many other historical documentaries about this land of culture and heroic traditions.
Following the course of the nation's history, these documentary films have covered important historical periods and events of Quang Nam province, such as: Quang Nam on its journey of territorial expansion, the Nghia Hoi and Duy Tan movements, the 1908 anti-tax movement; famous figures such as Hoang Dieu, Phan Chau Trinh, Phan Thanh, Le Dinh Tham, Huynh Thuc Khang, Tran Quy Cap, Thai Phien, Tran Cao Van, Hoang Huu Nam, Vo Chi Cong, Pham Phu Thu, Le Tri Vien...; and place names such as Nui Thanh, Kham Duc, Cam Doi, the Zone 5 Party Committee, and heroic Hoi An... have also been produced and broadcast.
Over the past 10 years (2016 - 2025), the station has produced 50 documentaries on historical topics and prominent figures of Quang Nam province from modern to contemporary times.
Game show "My Homeland in Quang Nam"
The game show "My Homeland in Quang Nam," organized by the station in collaboration with the Provincial Farmers' Association, is an example of a large-scale reality television program that is rich in cultural identity and community spirit.

"My Homeland, Quang Nam" is a program that is not only rich in culture but also highly community-oriented and leaves a deep impression. The program is not simply a competition but also vividly portrays the life, culture, and people of Quang Nam.
From the costumes and voices to the way the competition is organized, everything reflects the simple, heartfelt spirit of the land where "the rain soaks the ground even before it rains." "My Homeland in Quang Nam" isn't held in a studio but travels to the villages and hamlets – places where farmers with muddy hands and skilled artisans live.
Over the nine years of its organization (2016-2025), the game show has seen participation from 40 communes, wards, and towns across 17 districts, towns, and cities in the province. This close relationship creates a genuine, warm atmosphere and makes people feel like they are an important part of the program.
The unique identity of Quang Nam province is clearly reflected, close to the people, from rural areas to mountainous regions, diverse, vibrant, and rich in educational value. Each competition segment is not only entertaining but also conveys knowledge and awakens pride in the homeland.
The program shines not only because of its captivating content but also because of the ordinary people involved. They are resourceful farmers with calloused hands, skillful women, elderly people sharing village stories, and young people who love their local culture. They are also the "storytellers" who bring the land of Quang Nam to life.
Game show "Students of Quang Nam"
Similar to "My Homeland in Quang Nam," the game show "Students of Quang Nam," produced by Quang Nam Television Station in collaboration with the Department of Education and Training, is also a television program deeply rooted in the culture of Quang Nam province. The program not only provides an intellectual playground for students but also profoundly showcases the cultural identity of Quang Nam through various aspects.
The program incorporates many questions related to local history, such as historical events, cultural figures, and revolutionary traditions associated with the Quang Nam region. Cultural identity, customs, and traditions, such as folk songs and traditional festivals, are integrated into the competition sections, including the festivals of Ba Thu Bon and Ba Chua Ngoc, and the custom of making banh tet and banh it la gai (traditional Vietnamese rice cakes wrapped in thorny leaves).
"Students from Quang Nam" is considered a miniature "Road to Olympia" for those working in education and television in Quang Nam. The creative aspect and clear expression of the cultural essence of Quang Nam in the game show "Students from Quang Nam" lies in preserving and recreating the image of Quang Nam students as intelligent, diligent, hardworking, and respectful.
"Students from Quang Nam" is proof that education can become more engaging when linked to local culture and identity, and that television is not just for entertainment, but also an effective educational tool, especially in preserving intangible cultural heritage.
Preserving the soul of our homeland
Sections such as "Experiences in Quang Nam", "Colors of Life", "Literature and Art", "Arts and Culture of Quang Nam", "Culture and Society"; and sections showcasing the cultural identity of ethnic minorities in mountainous regions, such as programs featuring the Ca Dong and Co Tu languages, have focused on reflecting the rich and unique tangible and intangible cultural values of Quang Nam.
Alongside these are insightful and humane programs, such as "The Songs of Quang Nam," "Folk Songs and Bài Chòi," and documentaries about traditional crafts, cuisine, and festivals...
In recent years, with documentary series like "Rivers of Quang Nam" (20 episodes, produced in 2023), "The Quintessence of Traditional Crafts" (20 episodes, produced in 2024), and the 20-episode series "Returning to the Festival Region of Quang Nam" produced in 2025, Quang Nam television producers have brought viewers back to the simple yet precious things, so that every person from Quang Nam can see themselves in it, and those who have never been there will want to visit at least once.
All produced programs are broadcast regularly on television channels and uploaded to online platforms such as YouTube and Facebook, making it easy for viewers to follow and interact.
Preserving cultural identity is not just a job, but also a way of expressing deep love for one's homeland. In the past and in the future, those working in broadcasting in Quang Nam province will always simultaneously fulfill the task of providing information while preserving the soul and essence of their homeland, so that the beautiful traditional values remain vibrant today and forevermore.
