The 2026 summer transfer window hasn't officially opened yet, but Chelsea and Newcastle have already begun one of the most noteworthy negotiations in the Premier League.

According to numerous sources in England, the two clubs are in discussions regarding at least five players in a complex "transfer cycle".

Chelsea are reportedly looking to bring Lewis Hall back to Stamford Bridge after the 21-year-old defender's outstanding season at Newcastle. Hall made 45 appearances in all competitions and was one of the few bright spots for the Magpies last season.

The London club sees him as a long-term replacement for Marc Cucurella, who is attracting interest from Barcelona.

Furthermore, Chelsea have also inquired about signing two key midfielders from Newcastle, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes. Given Newcastle's disappointing season, finishing 12th in the Premier League, the possibility of the St James' Park club considering selling some stars to rebuild their squad cannot be ruled out.

Conversely, Newcastle are interested in Chelsea's Liam Delap and Josh Acheampong. Delap was a Newcastle target before joining Chelsea for £30 million. However, the young striker has struggled to secure a starting place and has only scored one goal in 28 Premier League appearances.

Meanwhile, Acheampong is considered a promising player but is unhappy due to the significant reduction in playing time towards the end of the season. Although Chelsea are not yet ready to sell the 20-year-old defender outright, a loan option could still be considered.

Sources in the UK indicate that negotiations are progressing smoothly thanks to the good relationship between the owners of both sides.

Chelsea are also reportedly monitoring Nick Woltemade, the striker Newcastle signed for a record fee from Stuttgart but who has yet to fully live up to expectations.
