Accordingly, the difference in benchmark scores between these two methods of each school is different.
The B00 combination has the highest difference in score.
It can be seen that the average score of the 12 subjects is 0.12-2.26 points higher than the average score of the high school graduation exam. Literature has the lowest difference - 0.12 points, while industrial technology has the highest difference of 2.26 points. Math has the second highest difference of 2.25 points.
To ensure fairness for all candidates, the benchmark scores of each method will be converted to an equivalent scale.

From the difference in the subjects, we can deduce the difference in each subject group. Among the 7 popular subject groups A00, A01, B00, C00, C01, D00 and D01, subject group B00 (math, chemistry, biology) has the highest difference. If the average score of B00 is 22.01, then in the exam score, this group only has an average score of 16.62, a difference of 5.39 points.
That means the benchmark score of a major that considers the B00 combination in the high school exam score method is 16.62, so candidates must have a transcript score of 22.01 to be admitted to this major.
The combination with the second largest difference is D07 (math, chemistry, English). When the average high school transcript score is 21.35, the average graduation exam score is only 16.22, a difference of 5.13 points.

The A01 (math, literature, English) and A00 (math, physics, chemistry) groups have the next largest differences, with 4.21 and 3.95 points, respectively. The group with the lowest difference is C00 (literature, history, geography) with 2.16 points. The average difference of the 7 groups is 3.93 points.
The difference in benchmark scores between the two methods at schools
The conversion range of admission scores from transcripts to admission scores based on high school graduation exam scores of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics (UEH) is divided into 12 ranges. The lowest range is from 19.5-23.64 transcript points equivalent to 16-21.04 high school graduation exam points. The highest range is 29-30 transcript points equivalent to 25.81-30 high school graduation exam points.
Associate Professor Dr. Bui Quang Hung, Vice President of Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics, said that the fastest way to calculate is that the graduation exam score is about 89% of the transcript score. For example, the school's A major has a standard score of 24 based on the graduation exam results, so the transcript score is 28.2. Similarly, 20 exam points correspond to 23.5 transcript points. The difference gradually decreases as the standard score decreases.
Dr. Tran Dinh Ly, Vice Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Agriculture and Forestry, said that after the Ministry of Education and Training announced the data and instructions, the school proposed an equivalent conversion coefficient. Accordingly, the coefficient is 1.125. That is, the benchmark score for the transcript review method is equal to the benchmark score for the graduation exam review method multiplied by 1.125.
For example, if major A of the school has a standard score of 20 based on the original method (based on high school graduation exam scores), then candidates must have a score of 22.5 based on their transcripts to be admitted. Major B has a standard score of 25 based on high school graduation exam scores, then the transcript score must be 28.1. Thus, the higher the high school standard score, the greater the difference with the transcript standard score.
Van Lang University has released the conversion results of the standard scores according to each score range. Dr. Vo Van Tuan, Vice Principal, informed: "From 15-17 high school points is equivalent to 18-22 transcript points. 17-22 high school points is equivalent to 22-26 transcript points and 22-29 high school points is equivalent to 26-30 transcript points". For example, if considering the transcript score, candidates must achieve 26 points to be admitted to a major with a standard score of 22 according to the exam score method.
Similarly, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology also provided a table of correlation scores between the two methods according to 6 ranges. In which, range 1 is 27-30 high school exam scores equivalent to 28-30 transcript points (average of 3 subjects in grade 12 and average of the whole grade 12). Range 2 is from 24-26.99 high school exam scores equivalent to 26-27.99 transcript points. Range 6 is 15-16.99 high school exam scores equivalent to 18-19.99 transcript points.
Meanwhile, at Dalat University, Dr. Tran Huu Duy, Vice Principal, said that the school will calculate the general difference between the two examination methods of all combinations as 3 points. For example, major A has a standard score of 20 in the examination results method, so candidates must achieve 23 points to be admitted based on their academic records.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Law converted high school transcript scores to be equivalent to high school graduation exam scores in 2025 for each subject group, with the highest difference being 4.5 points in group D07 (math, chemistry, English). Groups A00 (math, physics, chemistry) and D01 (math, literature, English) both have a difference of 4 points.
For example, in group D07, a candidate who scores 22 points on the high school graduation exam will be equivalent to a candidate who scores 26.5 points on the transcript. Similarly, in groups A00 and D01, a candidate who scores 22 points on the high school graduation exam will be equivalent to a candidate who scores 26 points on the transcript.
Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry has a quite different calculation formula for 3 score ranges. Accordingly, at the range of 17-21 points, the admission score by considering the transcript = admission score by the high school graduation exam results + 4. At the range of 21-25 points, the standard score by transcript = high school standard score x 0.749 + 9.27. At the range of 25-30 points, the standard score by transcript = high school standard score x 0.398 + 18.06.
For example, a high school standard score of 18 points for a major will be equivalent to 22 transcript points; a high school standard score of 22 will be equivalent to 25.74 transcript points; a high school standard score of 26 will be equivalent to 28.4 transcript points.
