Accordingly, the Toyota Fortuner Mild-hybrid has a starting price of 4.472 million rupees (about 1.362 billion VND). The high-end Legender version is also equipped with a mild hybrid system, priced at more than 5 million rupees (equivalent to 1.526 billion VND). The car will start accepting orders from today and be delivered from June 2025. As the name suggests, the biggest change of the Toyota Fortuner hybrid lies in the engine. The Fortuner Mild-hybrid is equipped with "Neo Drive" technology - a 48V mild hybrid system that has appeared on the Urban Cruiser Hyryder and Glanza. This system supports the 2.8L diesel engine, maintaining a capacity of 204 horsepower and a maximum torque of 500 Nm.
The hybrid system consists of an integrated starter generator (ISG), a lithium-ion battery, and a drive belt. While it does not allow the vehicle to run on pure electric power, the technology supports functions such as automatic engine start/stop, smoother acceleration, and better fuel economy. In addition, the system helps reduce operating noise. In terms of design, the Fortuner Mild-hybrid has no major changes in exterior or interior compared to the regular diesel version, except for the “Neo Drive” logo identifying the new transmission system. The cabin still uses familiar two-tone leather seats.
However, Toyota has improved the safety features list for this hybrid version. The car is equipped with 7 airbags, 360-degree camera, hill descent control, hill start assist, traction control and ISOFIX child seat hooks. These are all highly rated equipment in the 7-seat SUV segment. Fortuner Mild-hybrid marks a new step in Toyota's strategy of "greening" traditional car lines. With this model equipped with mild hybrid technology that does not affect design and performance much, Fortuner still maintains its strong performance, while aiming to reduce fuel consumption and emissions.
There is currently no official information about whether the Toyota Fortuner Mild-hybrid will be sold in Vietnam. However, in the context of Toyota promoting hybrid vehicles in Southeast Asia, the possibility of this version arriving in the Vietnamese market is completely possible in the near future.
