Admission criteria and survey schedule for 6th grade at a popular school in Thu Duc City.

Students at Tran Quoc Toan 1 Junior High School (one of the three junior high schools in Thu Duc City that admit students to grade 6 through an entrance exam) during a group work session.

Accordingly, the Steering Committee for Primary School Enrollment in Thu Duc City stipulates that, based on information updated in the education sector's enrollment database and verified with the national population data, the enrollment software system will send an SMS notification to the parents' phones providing the application code and security code.

Parents will access the website https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn to enter the application code and security code for enrollment registration. After registration, parents will receive notification about the time to submit the paper application in person at the school.

Preschools are expected to begin enrollment on July 1st and announce the results on August 1st.

Primary schools begin enrollment on June 28th and the enrollment process is divided into two phases:

First round of admissions : From June 28th to July 8th, results will be announced and applications for admission will be accepted from July 9th to 16th.

Primary schools enroll children who have been assigned to a school district from the website https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn (information has been fully updated by kindergartens and preschools in the industry database) and whose names are on the list of the Thu Duc City Admissions Steering Committee.

Second round of admissions : From July 19th to 22nd; results will be announced on August 1st.

Based on the fact that schools have not yet enrolled enough students compared to their targets and capacity, the Steering Committee for Primary School Enrollment decides to open a second enrollment round, and also specifies the eligible applicants for this round (registration will still be done online on the enrollment website specified by the Department of Education and Training).

After two rounds of admissions, schools that still had unfilled quotas compared to the allocation from the People's Committee of Thu Duc City submitted written proposals for additional quotas and supplementary lists.

For the 2024-2025 school year, the integrated English program will be implemented in the following primary schools: An Binh, Nguyen Hien, Giong Ong To, An Khanh, Nguyen Van Troi, Huynh Van Ngoi, Luong The Vinh 1, Binh Trung Dong, Nguyen Thi Tu, Le Van Viet, Phuoc Binh, Dinh Tien Hoang, Nguyen Van Ba, Nguyen Minh Quang, Pham Van Chinh, Tran Thi Buoi, Linh Chieu, Luong The Vinh, Hoang Dieu, Nguyen Van Triet, and Binh Quoi.

Primary schools implementing high-quality programs, advanced schools, and international integration programs will conduct enrollment from June 4th to 27th, and announce results no later than June 27th.

The specific targets are as follows:

• An Binh Primary School: 5 classes with 175 students.
• Linh Chieu Primary School: 5 classes with 175 students.
• Nguyen Thi Tu Primary School: 4 classes with 140 students.
• Le Van Viet Primary School: 5 classes with 175 students.

Primary school students in Thu Duc City participate in the experiential science festival.

The expected time for conducting the entrance examination for 6th grade at the three advanced schools, where the number of applicants exceeds the quota, is as follows:

Admission to grade 6 is open to three schools implementing high-quality programs, advanced programs, and international integration programs. These schools have more applicants than their enrollment quota, including Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School, Hoa Lu Secondary School, and Binh Tho Secondary School.

These three schools use a method that combines application review with a competency assessment test.

Mr. Nguyen Thai Vinh Nguyen, Head of the Education and Training Department of Thu Duc City, said that Thu Duc City will organize a survey to select 6th-grade students for the three aforementioned schools on the same day, with the survey content being the responsibility of the Education and Training Department.

Accordingly, the Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City plans to organize the event between June 13 and 15.

The enrollment quotas for the three schools are as follows:

• Tran Quoc Toan Secondary School 1: 9 classes of grade 6 with 315 students (including at least 4 classes with integrated English).
• Hoa Lu Secondary School: 11 Grade 6 classes with 385 students (including at least 2 integrated English classes).
• Binh Tho Secondary School: 8 Grade 6 classes with 280 students (including at least 3 integrated English classes).

Parents can register online at the primary school enrollment website at https://tuyensinhdaucap.hcm.edu.vn, tentatively from May 23 to 26.

The Department of Education and Training of Thu Duc City also stipulates that students are only allowed to register for the entrance exam at one school (no other preferences), and the exam score from that school will not be used for admission to the other two schools. If a student is not admitted to the school they applied to, they will still be placed in grade 6 at a secondary school according to the regulations of the enrollment plan for the beginning of the school year.

The target group for the second enrollment phase includes students who have completed primary school elsewhere (outside Thu Duc City) and whose names are not yet listed in the education sector's database. The Education and Training Department will compile and update this list on the database for the second phase. The city's enrollment steering committee will assess the schools' capacity to accommodate these students and make adjustments accordingly to ensure 100% of students have the opportunity to attend school.

Enrollment for the 6th grade integrated English program is open at the following secondary schools: Tran Quoc Toan 1, Luong Dinh Cua, An Phu, Hoa Lu, Tran Quoc Toan, Hiep Phu, Phuoc Binh, Binh Tho, and Linh Trung.

Enrollment is open for 6th grade students in the Korean language (second foreign language) program at Hoa Lu Secondary School and Binh Tho Secondary School.

Enrollment for the 6th grade Korean language class is conducted among students already enrolled in the school, and tuition fees are collected in agreement with parents to ensure compliance with regulations.
