Thanh Cong 7 ship with 11 members, carrying coal from Quang Ninh to Quang Binh . When approaching Vung Ang port, the ship's engine broke down and sank at 8:40 p.m. on May 25. The crew jumped out before the ship sank.

Authorities and fishermen's boats joined the rescue as soon as they received the news. At 5:45 a.m. on May 26, the fishermen's boat found a crew member drifting at sea and helped bring him ashore.

Currently, the sea in Ha Tinh has big waves and strong winds due to the cold air. Therefore, rescue ships have difficulty approaching the sunken ship.

The Ha Tinh Border Guard has notified Quang Binh authorities to coordinate the search, because there is a possibility that the sailors will drift to the border waters.

Cold air causes rain in the North and North Central regions, especially Ha Tinh. According to statistics from the meteorological agency, on the day and night of May 24, 55 out of 103 stations in Ha Tinh had rain over 100 mm, 29 stations over 200 mm, 13 stations over 300 mm, 7 stations over 400 mm. Ky Giang commune, Ky Anh district alone had 601 mm of rain.

Heavy rains and flash floods caused more than 2,000 tons of harvested rice, mainly in Cam Xuyen, Huong Khe, and Thach Ha districts, to be submerged; more than 2,200 hectares of spring rice were flooded; and nearly 12,000 poultry and livestock were swept away.

The meteorological agency warned that today the area may continue to have heavy rain, causing flooding in low-lying areas along rivers and streams; localized flooding in residential areas and urban areas. Mountainous areas are at risk of flash floods and landslides. Meanwhile, the sea is experiencing showers and strong thunderstorms, fishermen need to be on guard against tornadoes, gusts of wind and big waves.
