In their later years, many parents have to take multiple medications simultaneously, ranging from cardiovascular and blood pressure medications to bone and joint and digestive issues. However, self-medication, misdiagnosis of active ingredients, missed doses, or uncontrolled combinations with dietary supplements are silently causing unfortunate health risks for the elderly.
How can we ensure that parents take their medication correctly, at the right dosage, and safely every day? How can children and grandchildren better listen to and support their parents, especially when the parents rarely complain or are hesitant to speak up? And what is the role of pharmacies in accompanying families in caring for the health of the elderly?
To provide a comprehensive perspective and practical solutions for the community, at 9:00 AM on July 24th, Dan Tri newspaper will organize an online discussion on the topic "Choosing Safe Medicine for Parents," with the participation of two guest speakers:
- Dr. Dao Trong Thanh , Specialist II - Deputy Head of Outpatient Department B, Friendship Hospital
-Pharmacist Nguyen Van Tien Duc – Director of Pharmacy, Pharmacity Pharmacy System

Through this seminar, experts will share information on common situations encountered by the elderly when using medication; provide guidance on recognizing signs of overdose or side effects; and answer questions about buying medication online, mislabeling medications, or monitoring treatment adherence remotely.
The seminar also introduced new solutions such as smart medicine boxes, dose reminder apps, and personalized services that are being implemented to help the elderly use medication more safely and effectively.
The program will answer a range of practical questions from viewers about self-medicating, buying medication online, the risk of drug interactions, and early warning signs of complications in the elderly.
In particular, the seminar will emphasize the link between doctors, pharmacies, and families in forming a "safety triangle" to provide comprehensive healthcare for the elderly, in the context of Vietnam's rapidly aging population.
The panel discussion will be live-streamed on the Dan Tri online newspaper and the Dan Tri fanpage.
This program promises to provide a wealth of useful information for those concerned about the health of their parents and grandparents. Readers can submit questions and participate in the Q&A session with experts here starting now:
