Taking proactive measures early on reduces pressure on the power system.

At the beginning of summer, Ha Tinh has already experienced several prolonged heatwaves with soaring temperatures. Consequently, electricity demand has increased sharply, especially during peak hours, posing a risk of localized overload.

In response to this situation, the electricity sector and local authorities have implemented a comprehensive range of solutions, from upgrading infrastructure to adjusting load demand, while also intensifying efforts to promote electricity conservation in the community.

Overall review

According to calculations by specialized agencies, during peak hot days, the province's electricity load could increase by 20% to 25% compared to normal days. This increase is mainly concentrated during midday and evening hours, when people use many high-power cooling devices simultaneously.

Observations in many residential areas show that electricity consumption has surged by more than 50% in some places during the early summer heatwaves. This creates a constant risk of power grid failures, especially in densely populated areas or those undergoing rapid urbanization.

To respond, starting in early 2026, Ha Tinh Power Company implemented a comprehensive review of the power grid system. Units focused on clearing vegetation along power line corridors, cleaning insulators, inspecting vulnerable points, and tightening operational discipline.

In particular, infrastructure investment has been identified by the Ha Tinh electricity sector as a long-term solution. To date, the entire province has completed the energization and commissioning of nearly 50 overload-prevention transformer substations, along with 34 low-voltage substations carried over from the previous year's plan. This addition contributes to improving supply capacity and reducing the load on key areas.

In addition, operating units are intensifying round-the-clock inspections and applying technologies such as thermal cameras and drones to detect anomalies early. Remote monitoring systems are also being deployed synchronously, helping to closely monitor the load status of each substation to regulate power output in a timely manner.

Mr. Tran Van Nhuong, Deputy Head of the Energy Management Department (Ha Tinh Department of Industry and Trade), said that to ensure safe and continuous power supply, units have strictly implemented the approved plan, prioritizing important customers. At the same time, the electricity sector has proactively coordinated with large production facilities to implement the Demand Side Management (DSM) program, contributing to reducing the system's peak power demand.

People and businesses are sharing the burden.

Besides the efforts of the electricity sector, the awareness of electricity conservation among people and businesses plays a crucial role. In recent days, electricity officials in localities have directly visited each household to guide people on how to use appliances efficiently. People are advised to limit the use of high-power appliances during two peak hours: from 11 am to 3 pm and from 7 pm to 11 pm.

Ms. Duong Thi Nga (My Phu village, Cam Due commune) shared: “My family tries to arrange laundry and cooking early to avoid peak hours. This reduces pressure on the electricity system and helps the family save on living expenses.”

In the manufacturing sector, electricity usage has also changed significantly. Many businesses have proactively adjusted their production plans and participated in load adjustment programs. Ms. Phan Thi Thu, Director of Nghe Tinh Yarn Joint Stock Company, said that although the yarn spinning industry operates 24/7, after receiving advice, the company flexibly shifted energy-intensive processes to off-peak hours. "Thanks to the reasonable shift adjustments, electricity costs have decreased significantly, and machinery operates more stably," Ms. Thu added.

Similarly, at Sao Vang Beer, Wine and Beverage Group Joint Stock Company, electricity saving is implemented from the smallest details. Mr. Pham Thanh Thang, Deputy Head of the Investment Department of the company, said that coordinating with the electricity sector not only helps stabilize production but also demonstrates the company's responsibility in ensuring national energy security.

According to Mr. Pham Viet Thang, Deputy Director of Ha Tinh Power Company, the unit has developed operational scenarios for each level of heatwave, from normal to extreme. The power sector strives to ensure safe electricity supply for people and businesses, minimizing incidents during the peak summer season.

With synchronized solutions and community involvement, Ha Tinh is proactively and effectively responding to the hot season, ensuring a stable energy supply to serve local socio -economic development.
