
Given the complex weather developments, Phan Huy Ngoc, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province, requested that departments, agencies, and localities proactively implement measures to respond to heavy rain, tornadoes, lightning, hail, flash floods, and landslides in order to minimize damage to people and property.
At the same time, closely monitor weather developments, strengthen disaster warning information on media channels so that people can proactively take preventive measures, organize serious duty shifts, and be ready to deploy response and remediation measures when situations occur.
The People's Committees of communes and wards shall review areas at high risk of landslides and flooding; proactively develop plans to ensure the safety of people, and prepare forces and resources according to the "four on-the-spot" principle to promptly handle natural disaster situations. The Provincial Meteorological and Hydrological Station shall strengthen the updating and provision of timely and accurate forecast and warning information on natural disasters to serve guidance and help people proactively prevent and mitigate them.
The Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment is responsible for presiding over, monitoring, and urging the implementation of disaster response tasks; compiling information and promptly reporting as required.
Earlier, on the night of May 2nd and the early morning of May 3rd, Tuyen Quang province experienced scattered showers and thunderstorms, with some areas receiving heavy rain. Rainfall amounts generally ranged from 10 to 40 mm, with some areas such as Thai Hoa commune receiving 44 mm, Hung My (Tan My commune) 43 mm, and Binh Phu (Yen Lap commune) 42 mm… Notably, in Phu Luong commune, a strong thunderstorm accompanied by hailstorms occurred, injuring 8 people.
The storm, accompanied by hail, also damaged the roofs of 26 houses (22 in Phu Luong commune and 4 in Son Thuy commune), and damaged the roofs of Dai Phu Primary School and Dai Phu Secondary School (in Phu Luong commune). In addition, the storm damaged 112 hectares of rice, over 41 hectares of corn and other crops, 6.5 hectares of forestry trees, and knocked down 7 power poles...
