In the first four months of 2026, Cao Ngan Thermal Power Plant supplied over 292.5 million kWh to the national power grid. In April alone, production reached 82.4 million kWh, the highest level compared to the same period in recent years. This result demonstrates the unit's proactive approach in operating and maintaining equipment and preparing fuel sources for production.
Mr. Nguyen Manh Cuong, Deputy Director of Cao Ngan Thermal Power Plant - TKV, said: "From the beginning of the year, the unit has developed a plan, prepared sufficient fuel and spare parts, and strengthened inspection and maintenance of equipment to ensure that the generating units are always ready to operate at high capacity when the power system is mobilized."
To meet the requirements for continuous power generation, the plant maintains a regular inspection regime, closely monitors the technical parameters of the generating units, and proactively stockpiles coal and replacement materials to minimize the risk of production interruptions.
At the An Khanh Thermal Power Plant, production is also maintained at a high intensity to meet the sharply increased demand during the hot season. In April alone, the plant's electricity output reached approximately 70 million kWh, an increase of nearly 30 million kWh compared to previous months.
Mr. Cu Xuan Dung, Deputy General Director of An Khanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, said: The company has fully prepared coal reserves, spare parts and equipment, and developed an operating plan suitable for the prolonged hot weather conditions. Equipment inspection and maintenance have been intensified to ensure safe and continuous power generation during peak load periods.

Along with fuel and equipment, the human resources for operation are also given special attention. At the factories, inspection and monitoring of each production shift are tightened; contingency plans are developed and drills are regularly conducted to improve the ability to respond to unforeseen situations.
Mr. Truong Dinh Duong, Head of Operations at An Khanh Thermal Power Joint Stock Company, shared: "We are strengthening equipment inspections by shift, closely monitoring operating parameters, and regularly organizing incident response drills to improve our ability to respond quickly and ensure the safety of the power units."
In reality, during prolonged periods of hot weather, thermal power plants must operate continuously at high intensity, placing stringent demands on technical work, maintenance, and operational discipline.
Currently, Thai Nguyen has two thermal power plants, Cao Ngan and An Khanh, both with a designed capacity of 115 MW. These are important sources of electricity for the national power grid and contribute to the socio-economic development of the locality.
Even as the rainy season approaches, electricity demand remains high after a prolonged period of hot weather. Ensuring the safe and stable operation of thermal power plants is crucial for supplying electricity to serve production, business, and daily life.
Based on proactive preparations in terms of fuel, equipment, and personnel, thermal power plants in the province are ready to meet high power generation demands, contributing to ensuring stable operation of the power system in 2026.
