The controversy between beauty queen Rachel Gupta and Miss Grand President Nawat continues to be the focus of beauty forums.
It all started when Rachel Gupta announced her resignation from the Miss Grand 2024 crown, accusing the Miss Grand organization of mistreating her, belittling her, and creating a toxic work environment.

The Indian beauty has held a series of press conferences and broadcasts on her personal page to talk about the humiliations she had to endure during her 7-month reign. In response, the Miss Grand organization announced that Rachel Gupta had been stripped of her crown for violating discipline and breaching her contract.
Immediately, the Miss Grand organization appointed Christine Juliane Opiaza as Miss Grand 2024 and held a crowning ceremony for the Philippine beauty on June 3 in Thailand. Christine Juliane Opiaza will replace Rachel Gupta to carry out the unfinished work.
However, shortly after the coronation of Christine Juliane Opiaza, President Nawat made controversial statements about the Indian beauty. He repeatedly commented on Rachel Gupta's appearance. Mr. Nawat's comments were considered unbecoming of a beauty pageant leader.
Earlier, Mr. Nawat publicly posted a portrait of Rachel Gupta on his personal page to prove that she had secretly had breast augmentation. The photo made supporters of the contest very upset.

Some viewers commented on Mr. Nawat's statements and actions: "Unbelievable. A beauty pageant chairman would say this about a contestant", "A beauty pageant but with rude comments about women", "You can't laugh at someone's flaws publicly like this. It's unacceptable".
This is not the first time Mr. Nawat has publicly insulted the appearance of others. In 2022, he criticized the beauty representing Vietnam at the Miss Grand International 2022 pageant - Doan Thien An - for having a long back and big hips.
He explained that Thien An did not meet the beauty standards so she only stopped at the top 20 finalists to respond to the Vietnamese online community. The incident led to unwanted controversies between the President of Miss Grand and fans in Vietnam after the contest.

The Miss Grand International 2024 pageant is considered the most controversial of the 12 seasons. Currently, 3 out of 5 beauties of the pageant have announced their resignation or have had their crowns stripped.
First was the stripping of the crown of the second runner-up right after the final night. Next was the announcement of the relinquishment of the crown of Miss Grand International Rachel Gupta and finally the decision to strip the crown of the third runner-up for not performing her duties.
Not only did he attack the beauties, Mr. Nawat also touched on Ms. Julia Morley and the Miss World contest.
"They make contestants create videos about hunger from all over the world. The sole purpose is to sell the images and profit from donations," said Mr. Nawat.
Mr. Nawat's statement caused a stir on beauty forums. Many opinions said that Mr. Nawat's arrogant statements had a negative impact on the beauty community.

Miss Grand International officially launched in 2013 and quickly became a popular beauty pageant, ranking in the top 6 most popular beauty pageants today.
The contest aims to find beauties who call for peace and participate in charity. However, in recent years, the contest has been constantly embroiled in scandals, accused of straying from its goals and only interested in commercial purposes.
The winners of the contest all participated in livestreaming (online broadcasting) activities to sell products for Chairman Nawat. The products they marketed included food, toilet paper, cosmetics, and feng shui items. The images of the beauties livestreaming on social media once made many people feel sick.
In response to criticism, President Nawat affirmed that he is still looking for beautiful women who know how to do business and sell. Good sales skills have even become a part of the Miss Grand Thailand contest.
Despite the noise and reactions from the online community, President Nawat also announced changes to the new season of Miss Grand. He said the age limit for contestants will be extended from 19 to 30 years old.
